Thinking Of Replacing Stock Head Unit On 96 Es300

Recommended Posts

Can I just replace the stock unit without having to replace/add amps? I'm also thinking of replacing the stock crap speakers with something that produces bass. Any suggestions? Thanks! :whistles:

It's possible. You have a couple of options available. You can either find a wiring harness that will wire in behind the head unit and act simply as an audio cable which will carry the signal to your factory amp (which is underneath your passenger seat), or you can get a wiring harness that will plug into the speaker wire harness that is currently plugged into the factory amp. The second option will give you better sound quality, as it will take power from the amp that is built into your new head unit, but you will have to create a custom wiring harness that runs from underneath your passenger seat to the factory head unit location. I had to do this in my LS400, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.
