Curious P Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Hey, Does anyone have any experience with one of these devices? I believe the device gets connected somewhere under the hood and provides a negative charge to the car thus preventing the oxidation process from occurring. Sounds reasonable, but I'm wondering if it justifies the price. Toyota charges $750 CDN and provides a lifetime warranty, alternatively, I can pick up the device from the local auto store and install it myself for $230 CDN. Any thoughts?
SRK Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 There are an absolute, unmitigated, certified useless, waste of money and time. Wash your car. Only Al Gore would believe in them.

Curious P Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 Hey Erich, You feel like selling one of those doo-hickeys? If so, send me a PM. I think I may try one out on an older Benz that I have (it's just starting to rust).
Thomas Hanes Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Does anyone know about ERPs and warranties? I don't want to get the ERP from the dealer, it's clearly a ripoff, but I'm worried that if I get it done somewhere else it might mean my warranty if voided. Anyone else been through this?
landar Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 In Canada, Krown Rustproofing seems to be the prevailing choice for RP I do not have any experience with them but it is not a one-time deal. You need to go back year after year for true protection. Its a hundred buck or so each time. Myself, I use a product call "Fluid Film". It is not petroleum based so not toxic yet it works great. I spray all of my vehicles myself and keep an eye out for rust issues. It has exceeded my expectations. Welcome to the club, Thomas.
Thomas Hanes Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I found a great article in the globe and mail (http://www.theglobea.../article535224/) showing how overpriced the erp's are when the dealer sells them. so i decided to check out the krown blog to hear their thoughts on electronic rust proofing (http://www.krown.com/blog/2014/06/electronic-rust-protection/) and came across the list of products recommended by the Automobile Protection Agency - thought I should post it here for folks: http://www.apa.ca/se...ustproofing.aspThey give a pretty good run-down on how dealers profit but drivers are overcharged with these devices. They also list some trusted rustproofers from Canada.
