  1. The trunk is only supposed to pop open when you hit the latch release, not swing all the way up.
  2. For what its worth, a couple of years ago I had a similar runnability problem and took it to the dealer on a flabed to diagnose. It took about 2 weeks of searching, mechanic taking it home and such to find the problem. The first thing they went after was "bad gas" and even tried to convince me I had put E85 in it. I also had some black plugs. To shorten the story, it turned out to be a bad fuel pump and there was never a code related to that in the system.
  3. U don'tchange tranny fluid on 04 LS430 call the dealer, and You'll see what they'll tell ya... There is a change interval. Just read the owners manual. My trans DOES have a drain plug, but you only get about 2 qts out that way which is the maintenance at 60K. As I said before, I have done it, but it is NOT fun. Unless you are a die hard DIYer, leave it to the dealer or trusted independent.
  4. The possibilities are tire pressure or wear, worn suspension, dragging brake and alignment. All of these should be eliminated by a good alignment shop. I wouldn't count on a dealer to be "a good alignment shop". Lots of dealers don't do this in house and farm it out on contract. Find a reputable shop in your area and have them look it over. With the low miles I am betting alignment is the issue. Road crowning is an issue, but you should be able to recognize this by driving different roads and lanes.
  5. A good wax job with a quality product will do the same if not better. Doesn't make any difference if you use a "sealer" or wax product, over time the surface gets grimy with stuff that washing won't remove and the finish begins to dull. So....time to reclean and "seal" the surface. Just because the word "Teflon" is attahced to a product doesn't mean that it works any better. This is just advertising hype to make gullible folks think the product is going to keep stuff from sticking to it like a Teflon coated skillet. Not so, grassshopper!!
  6. Got mine back today after fuel pump replacement and runs fine. Lexus picked up the entire bill including the tow even though I am past warrantee. :)
  7. Mine began to shut down intermittently 2-3 months ago until it got so bad that it was really dangerous to drive. It would always restart immediately. Finally had to have it towed. So far the dealer has had it 10 days. It took the first 5 days to figure out that it is the fuel pump since it showed no codes and apparantly was not showing typical low fuel pressure. That was the story last Friday, so I have been expecting a call to pick it up since late yesterday, but so far no call. Makes me wonder if they put a new pump on and it wasn't the fix!! Good news is that Lexus is footing the bill even though I am out of warantee by 6 months.
  8. So far they haven't charged my card, or I would have done exactly that! Maybe they will eventually do the right thing, but it chaps me that as soon as I started talking cancel, emails from their side stopped. Today after no communication since last Tues., they say they will cancel but there is a 20% restocking fee.

  10. Simply because I could get it about 1/2 price.
  11. No phone number that I can find. Somewhere I read that you need to be wary of online store that have no phone.........
  12. Based on comments from this board I decided to order a part from Lexuspartsonline.com. When I found the part number and went to place the order their system said the part was in stock: fuel pump relay. Since I have an undriveable car, that was obviously an important issue. Three days later my order status shows the part is on order! They said it would ship "soon". Now a week later and apparantly no shipment, plus they won't repond to my email telling them to cancel the order. Beware out there!!
  13. Thanks for the input and advice folks! I'll start getting these checked out.
  14. I have had notihing but good things to say about my 2004 LS 430 until a couple of weeks ago. On 2 different trips of 200 miles each I have had the engine shut down for a half second or so at 70mph. On the second trip I also had it completely die at around 60mph as I was taking an off ramp that led directly to an on ramp for another interstate. I had to pull over and it restarted immediately. A couple of days ago my wife pulled out to pass a car and it briefly shutdown again. Needless to say, she won't drive it until it is confirmed fixed! Otherwise, it runs great. Mileage is normal. This is not a misfire. It is just like the ignition switch is turned off and then back on. So far the Dealer has no clue since there are no fault codes. Has anyone else had this sort of problem??? Thanks for any help!
