linx Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Does anyone know where I can purchase a code reader for a 1995 ES 300? There's an inexpensive 3173 import code reader that's currently available, but it only shows up to 1993 for Lexus. Has anyone used one on a 1995? Also, how far can an ES300 be driven before having to change the timing belt? The reason I ask is because I've always driven cars with single or double timing chains that seem to last as long as the engine. Frankly, I'm not in a position to shell out money for a new timing belt, since I just spent money purchasing this vehicle and it only has 80k miles. Thanks.
linx Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 you need an obd2 scanner They have them on amazon.com, but it says that it's for a post-1996 vehicle. Are you sure it will work properly on a 1995 ES300 V6 engine? Thanks.

steviej Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Lexus implemented OBD2 into the ES300 before it was industry standard. I beleive 94+ ES300 are OBD2 compliant. In 1996, ALL vehicles had to be OBD2 compliant. steviej
