Use Of Rx400h Navigation System Outside North America

I have recently imported a 2006 RX400h (1st reg Oct '05) from Texas to Norway.

The navigation system in the car does not work. The GPS position is correct, but the local dealer claim they can't put in a "European map" as it will not work with my system.

Lexus Customer Service in the US say that The European version of the navigation system has the same hardware but not software and that I will not have the full functionality out of the European navigation update in a U. S. vehicle. So far they have not been able to tell me what to do with the software.

Does anyone know what modifications need to be done to the car's navigation system (software) be able to use the navigation system in Europe ?

Is the local Norway dealer correct when they claim the European map DVD will not go with the US version of the navigation system ?
