Lex01_430 Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Is there a gasket on the 2nd gen GS? the dealership told me that they use a Form in place gasket also known as silicone. http://www.lexus-parts.com/partdetail.asp?...bCategoryID=113 Can this be true? I use silicone to seal my oil pan? I also noticed that people were asking about the upper and lower oil pans...how can I tell which one is leaking and where do i go from there?

Im not 100% sure but its very possible they use silicone as a gasket. Many components are sealed with silicone. If used correctly it does a great job. Its not uncommon to use silicone or some type of liquid gasket to seal differentials, timing covers, transmissions, and transfer cases. You could try www.rockauto.com to see if they carry a gasket for the trans pan.
92Lex Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 From the factory, Toyota and Lexus use FIPG silicone sealant for their tranny/oil pan gaskets.
GuyTelefunken Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I used Lexus FIPG on my transmission pan, on a '98 GS300. I ordered it from Lexus. It is pink, with a consistency slightly heavier than toothpaste. I believe it was Three Bond 1281 FIPG. I could not find it anywhere but the dealer.
Lex01_430 Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 does anyone have a diagram. i am actually looking for the torque specs for the bolts.
