JUST PURCHASED 92 SC 400. A/C WAS BEYOND COLD-I MEAN FRIGID FOR ABOUT 10-DAYS. ALL OF A SUDDEN, HOT AIR. SEEMS LIKE THE COMPRESSOR IS KICKING ON. I DID NOTICE COOLANT IS AT VERY VERY TOP OF RESERVOIR WHEN I SHUT ENGINE. WHEN I START CAR THE COOLANT FROM THE RESERVOIR IS NORMAL(NOT SURE WHAT THAT MEANS) CAN ANYBODY HELP?

ALSO CAR HAS 59,000 MILES ON IT. LOOKS LIKE THEY CHANGED THE A/C SYSTEM IN OCTOBER 2006 ACCORDING TO A STICKER AND SOME MARKINGS UNDER THE HOOD!

When the clutch is energized it locks onto the compressor and the serpentine belt spins the compressor. When the A/C is off the clutch just freewheels on the pulley. You should be able to see a plate on the A/C compressor engage with the pulley and spin, when the A/C button is switched on.
