Complain To Lexus About 2007 Nav Restrictions

Recommended Posts

I just bought a new Lexus RX 350 and was very disappointed to find that POI options were blocked while the vehicle was in motion. It is obvious that Lexus attorneys had a hand in this decision. Obviously they were concerned about LIABILITY. Even though I am not an attorney, this makes no sense, you would think the warning you have to agree to every time you start the car would be sufficient. Even the passenger can't check or make changes. I have been on several trips and it would have been usefull for the passenger to check for restaurants, without having to get off the freeway to check. At least check the passenger sensor, to see if a passenger is present. On one occassion we pulled off into an area that, was to say the least, undesirable.

As I read this forum, I am seeing that many people are upset with this restriction and lare ooking at hardware work arounds. Some are suggesting people buy the Accura. I do not know if Accura's have the restriction too, but if they do not this could help influence Lexus to make a change. Even a specific liability disclaimer at sign on would be preferable, I would think adults can take responsibility for their actions.

I have called Lexus and have followed up with a letter of complaint about the restriction, I encourage everyone that is bothered by this to do the same. If enough people complain, I am sure Lexus will re-examine their position in light of what their competitors are doing.

Some manufacturers have this restriction, some don't. Acura does not, Infiniti does.

Lexus isn't gonna change, they've had that nav restriction since their first nav came out on the LS400 in 1998.

There are ways around it, search around the forums.
