Cleaning Exhaust Tip

whats the best way to clean the exhaust tip? i havent yet tried soap and water, but I presume this would work?

I use meguires NXT chrome/metal polish as it eats dirt and carbon.

outside. soap & water kind of works, just not effectively.

for chrome, I use cape cod metal polish.

I used to use the mothers stuff but the meguires is well beyond it.
