phabej
About two months ago, the timing belt on my lexus LS400 broke. Had it fixed by a mechanic and then the idle problem arised. The idle keeps jerking up and down between 1800 and 2000 rpm. Took the car to a Toyota dealer this morning and they found that the Idle Speed Control was not working. It will cost about $1000 to get it fixed. I already spent $1,500 to have the timing belt put back on. Now another $1000 to fix the idle speed control. It's just too costly to fix it especially the car is already 14 years old. Has anyone attempt to replace their Idle Speed Control? What's the difficulty level of fixing it? Are there any documentations anywhere? Please help. Thank you in advance for all your thoughts and inputs.
93ls400walt
It seems to be a very easy replacement part. But it is expensive. I think it's around 700-800 dollars. You may find a used on from the junk yard. Or from TAP in So. Cal. A lexus/toyota salvage yard.
