Jacob
Hello everybody, I have a ’96 LS400 with the check engine light on. And I needed to do the emission test for my registration. So, I disconnected the battery terminal for a few minutes and then went to the emission testing. What I didn’t know is that they check the OBD…. Which they did and told me that the OBD system was not ready so they couldn’t do the test. Would it work if I went to Auto Zone and asked them to reset the fault codes? Thanks
bicol-ini
yes you can reset it but if its a hard fault it will show up by the time you drive to your smog check station, if you have a scanner reset it just as you start to smog check it, it might work
Jacob
Today, I had the codes erased at AutoZone then drove to the emission station (about 6 miles). The check-engine light was still off, and my car passed the inspection. Thank you bicol-ini
