over40driver Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 When I am at 1/4 tank of gas and remove the cap , it almost blows the cap out of my hand, is this normal?
jzz30 Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 yes it is. i recently heard on the news that in america several million gallons of fuel is wasted through vaporization becasue gas caps are not properly tightened. so the fact that there is trapped pressure in your tank is a sign of a properly working fuel system

Lex3486 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Don't the newer SC's (99-00) have a evaporation recovery system?
GrnHrnt Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Don't the newer SC's (99-00) have a evaporation recovery system? '00sc's (not sure other years) have an Evaporative Emission Control System to reduce evaporated HC's. Consists of a vapor pressure sensor on fuel tank, several hoses, vent line, solenoid valve and a service port. All need to be functioning to keep those vapors from blowing the cap out of your hand.
