godfather18 Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I just bought 15K PURE WHITE LEDS for my cluster and wanted to know if its possible to solder the LEDS directly to the bulb sockets behind the cluster. Do I need a voltmeter to find out whats positive and negative on the board.
SKperformance Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 You would need to find out the terminals as well as making the resister for the circuit you are making.
smasood Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 You can refer to the post below http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...960&hl=LED+bulb Instead of soldering LED to instrument panel, you can buy these 8 bulbs from Ebay and install it without soldering it. If you look carefully - these bulbs have resistor inside so you do not need to find and sold a resistor inaddition to LED, it is a simple replacement. In order to install them you need to identify polarity which will be trial and error. When I installed these bulbs there was no way I could identify negative & positive as it is not marked and there are three circuit boards in whole instrument panel - so I used trial and error method.
94LexusES Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 soldering is outdated anyway. not really up to code anymore.
