On most cars the thermostat is in the inlet to the engines coolant pipe. I was just wanting to see how hard it is to change the thermostat on an sc400 and where the thermostat is located ie which pipe to take off. I have only done a thermostat change on a toyota tacoma before so i wanna know what i am getting into. I am not taking it to a dealer for a part that costs 15 dollars to be changed if i dont absolutely have to.

I have not done this personally on the SC, but after looking at it. Thermostat should be right in the inlet housing & usually just requires the 2 bolts to be taken off and remove thermostat.

i'm no mechanic and changed mine -- it was easy. make sure you get the gasket. there are instructions with pictures somewhere in this forum and they were very helpful.

I just changed the thermostat on my 92 SC400. Here are some additional tips:

- The drain !Removed! is on the back of the radiator and is accessible from the oil filter access hole in the bottom engine panel.

- Before installing the thermostat, insert the thermostat into the inner groove of the rubber seal.
