  1. that is not low yet it has to be about another quarter inch or more lower for it to turn on. You call that low on gas you could drive atleast another 100 miles on that tank seriously. Also The bulb is not bad on your car. I would put alot of money on that.
  2. I have a 93 and the rpms sound just fine. 2grand at 70+ I think these people may have been drinking.
  3. what would it mean if the exhaust smelled like gas alot. Mine does and my engine light is on and i think its my MAF sensor because when you move the plug it seems to change idle. It idles pretty bad right now and reaks like gas from the exhaust. I just changed my alternator if that has anything to do with it. I think i pulled a wire loose or something in the maf . Mine does similar stuff also like kinda rough idle and bucking when accelerating when the engine is cold. after driving a long time and restarting the car would die. now the engine light is stuck on instead of just coming on every once in a while.
  4. Does anyone know if the ls400 or any other cars use the same mass airflow sensor. My junk yards have no sc400s.
  5. I was wondering if anyone else on here had a problem with the connection in the maf on their sc. The connector going to the airflow sensor is really loose and if you move it it makes the car idle up and down. I called the dealer they said 1000 dollars for a new maf which sucks. Is there an easy fix for this problem? My engine light comes on also.
  6. I did some research and have some info on a manual swap... and tons of info on lexus v8s conversion plates: http://ttcperformance.com/shop/index.php?p...uemart&Itemid=1 lexus v8 forums: http://lextreme.com/ A guy thats working on doing one now http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218212 Lextreme is an awesome resource I love their site. 750 for a kit to convert, 400 for one of the cheaper trannys, rigging a clutch pedal, probably be under 2000 is what i am seeing also this vid of a sc300 is sick
  7. does anyone have a manual bolted to their 1uz-fe because if i could get a truck tranny or something bolted on and cut my driveshaft down i would be in buissiness then i can build a junk yard motor for n/a and go boil my tires all day. stock compression is 10:1 wonder how high people have had this motor?
  8. Its where you cut a hole in your air box and route an intake to the front grill area. where you could put 200 pounds of concrete int that gigantic open area in front of the radiator. Its a ghetto intake basicly and its better than the ones people sell.
  9. There is no real install kit available for the sc. A single din radio with a pocket underneath looks pretty good though. It is a rig and there is nothing made for this car. I went to a junkyard with measurements and found a pocket filler thing that would work.
  10. so that part can cause the power steering to leak? mine leaks like crazy and it blew a hose so i got that fixed and still leaks and has been for a long time probably years. could this be the cause? doesnt leak onto the alternator though :)
  11. Spl competition vehicle/daily driver... Oh its loud and getting louder when I get my 8000watts haha. It is still a work in progress so excuse the uglyness... when it gets as loud as it can then I can make it look pretty.
  12. No pressing the gas has no effect really... No I havent cleaned the throttle body.
  13. get a real cd player, get a real amp, get real speakers. I would just go to a shop if you have no interest in car audio. The stock radio sucks anyways. or just do this like i did lol....
  14. Ok say I go out to my car and start it when I haven't driven lately. The car starts everytime like this everyday. Now on the other hand sometimes I will drive a long time then stop somewhere and turn it off and do something. Then If I go to restart it it will do this thing where it will start but not idle and it will just die. Then again the same thing will happen. On one occasion it took 8 times for it to idle. It only seems to happen if I have ran the car recently. It doens't happen everytime either only every once in a while. It is really random. Another example is I am at a car audio competition and I have to pull up to the lanes to make my run. So the car is cold and I start it and let it idle where I have to wait to go. Then I have to turn the car off to run because thats how they do it. So I go to restart it and it does this thing again. I get it started after a few tries and pull back because I have to go again in a couple minutes. I stop the engine again to wait then restart it and it starts fine. It has nothing to do with the battery or starter because they work great everytime it always starts but just cant idle sometimes and it dies. Any ideas. My thought was intake sensor or fuel pump. I can hear the fuel pump turn on though.
  15. can any manual transmission be bolted on to the 400 motor. In other words was the motor used in a truck or something with a manual maybe or can something be made to work? someone has to have tried before
  16. On most cars the thermostat is in the inlet to the engines coolant pipe. I was just wanting to see how hard it is to change the thermostat on an sc400 and where the thermostat is located ie which pipe to take off. I have only done a thermostat change on a toyota tacoma before so i wanna know what i am getting into. I am not taking it to a dealer for a part that costs 15 dollars to be changed if i dont absolutely have to.
  17. does the 400s timing belt need to be changed that often?
  18. jerryrigginson, You can't be serious with that lumber in the backseat? ← LOL oh i am serious, ima rebuild for one 18 and seal it in real nice. I compete in SPL
  19. this is where you put the stereo if you wanted to know for that part LOL
  20. ROFL your can has 250 stock and after 145k it has 230 and at the wheels thats like 170
  21. yea whats involved with the tranny mounts obviously, obviousl the engine mounts are hard but what about the tranny
  22. I just wanted to know how i should go about fluxhing the powersteering in my car. I think they used regular ps fluid and they should have used dextron atf fluid so i just want to change it.
  23. I found the good spot, you just have to ram a screw driver through the rubber . It is located in a little pocket on the drivers side of the engine bay. It is still a pain in my a!! to get this 2/0 wire through. honestly this car was not made for spl.haha
  24. nevermind, i found the good spot. its driver side in a little pocket area and it runs into the kickpanel area. Now it is just a battle of getting this big wire through.
