I'm going to remove them and a guy in the GX470 forum said that the emblem would fall right off. Won't it/will it be bad for the paint in any way? Has anyone tried this? anewname Posted July 27, 2003 Share Posted July 27, 2003 WD-40 isn't exactly good for paint, but you shouldn't notice and damage from just a few minutes of contact. I once used it to keep some rust at bay temporarily on my BMW and I didn't notice any ill effects at all. As for the emblems, a guy once remarked to me that a hair dryer would make it fall right off. Will it become even softer if I apply water to it? I live in Cali and I'm thinking of sitting it in the sun and washing the car and when I'm done, taking the emblem off. Sound good? BA. Posted July 28, 2003 Share Posted July 28, 2003 I'm not so sure that making it wet will soften it. Heat does soften it though Also, GooGone is pretty effective. anewname Posted July 29, 2003 Share Posted July 29, 2003 The water will likely just cool the emblem down, which will harden the bond to the car. Try the hair dryer.
