bhasbro
I am changing my tranny fluid and bought Dexron III at the store, but noticed the dip stick says Dexron II. Is that a problem?
lenore
I don't believe so as Dexron II is no longer produced, I have been told III replaces the old II.
Maximaboy1
Not to be critical, but you should return it if possible and use Toyota Type T-IV. I have read however that Dex III relplaces Dex II also. Safest bet is to use Type T-IV from your Toyota or Lexus Dealer.
Orlousy
I have read that replacing trans fluid on an old transmissions is actually kind of bad. Have you been doing it on a regular basis? I actually don't know if my fluid has been changed, it shifts just fine, but looking for some opinions before I spend the money and time to do it or my trans blows up. monarch
bhasbro, yes use Dexron III and it is Toyota approved for all Dexron II uses. Do NOT use Toyota Type T-IV as that fluid is only for the SC400 transmissions.
