Just Want To Confirm That This Is The Starter

I havent driven the Lexus in a while but this morning I realized somethign isnt right. I had to go with my dad this morning to get a rental for a trip we took today (a college visit. We figured we'd spend the 40 bucks and get a rental that has unlimited miles. We got put into an 06 Maxima which was really nice) anyway, I rode with my dad this morning and when he started the car it made this zip sound that it has been making lately but this time its worse. Instead of making the noise and stopping it stays with you while you drive and wont go away untill the engine has warmed up a bit. I am sure this is the starter and thats what the guy from a Lexus service dept. told me. Has this happened to anyone else? He thinks its still engaging. You can definetly tell its coming off the flywheel because its making a"gear" sound as its spinning. I think we are going to order a new starter tonight.

Sounds very likely but get it checked it may be the solenoid a relay or the key

So is its the solenoid I could just get it replaced and not the whole starter?
