cgazsc Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 I have a 2003 ES300 and want to disable the headlight turnoff delay when I turnoff the ignition. The dealer tells me this can't be done and I must live with the 30 second delay. Hard to believe!
squarehat Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 If you click the lock button on the key a second time after exiting the car, the lights should shut off immediately.
cgazsc Posted July 19, 2003 Author Posted July 19, 2003 Thanks, but I know I can double click the lock button on the FOB, but I don't want to lock the car. And I'd like it automatic.
steviej Posted July 19, 2003 Posted July 19, 2003 put the headlight switch in the off position and turn them on/off when you need them. You won't have DRL in this position and they won't come on automatically in this position either. As for the 30 second delay....this IS a dealer adjustable time. What the limits of the adjustability are..I do not know. steviej
squarehat Posted July 19, 2003 Posted July 19, 2003 Looking at a C-BEST card for the '01 IS/GS/LS/'02 SC430, the delay for the pathway lighting system is settable for off/30sec/60sec/90sec. I'm assuming the 02-03 ES is the same.
cgazsc Posted July 20, 2003 Author Posted July 20, 2003 Is pathway lighting the same as headlights? If so, how do you change the setting? Since the dealer tells me 30 seconds is the shortest setting and the manual says see the dealer, I was hoping for some factory secret sequence of buttons, knobs, and switches would come forth. Maybe that's just the way they done it.
squarehat Posted July 20, 2003 Posted July 20, 2003 Yep, "pathway lighting" is the term for the headlamp delay, to light your way up the driveway, etc. I may be borrowing that term from the advertising of another brand, can't remember if that's Lexus's term for it. I wish I had access to a C-BEST (customizeable body electronics system) card for your ES, I was just going off what I could find on another Lexus board.
cgazsc Posted July 20, 2003 Author Posted July 20, 2003 Squarehat, you're on to something. Now if we could just come up with one of those secret "cards"!
