Antena Mast Is Stuck

I have a new mast to instal,and can't get out old one. iI soaked it overnight as directions said i also took out motor and cleaned out old broken mast. Can someone please tell me why this is so difficult? help needed,,,, thanks

The mast will not pull free from antena housing. I see original has a clip so it cant pull out i am assuming i am fighting that clip but not sure. directions say to soak over night and it should pull right out but "wrong" it comes out almost all the way but stops.It would be to the point where you would feed new mast back into housing. I dont understand how thdirections think that clip is just going to stop doing its job. HELP!!anyone!!
