anewname
1993 GS300 I am beginning to discover some electrical problems. Some I have already traced to a bad battery, but there are two in particlar that I need some advice on. 1) My seat warmers do not function. What is more likely, that they are burnt out from age or there is a bad connection or something? 2) My remote keyless entry barely functions. The Mark 1 GS300's had the keyless button in the key itself. To get it to lock/unlock I have to be within inches of the car, and even then there's no one place that will make it work every time. My question is, could it be the battery? I just put one in today, and since there was not one already in there for me to replace I was not sure the correct voltage. Right now there is a 3V installed. Any advice with either of these issues would be greatly appeciated. -Dave
bbsal
1 did you check the fuses for the heated seats?check all your fuses just to be sure because the seats are connected to a few fuses not just one. 2 i think its your battery in the remote thats bad.just replace it and see how it is.they dont work from far away anyway.i think lexus did that so you dont mistakenly open your doors while walking away from the car so its very short range in the early years.at least thats how my es 300 is because i have the remote on the key.just take the battery out of the remote and take it to radio shack or a store that sells batterys and have them match it if you dont know what kind it is.hope this helps you. anewname
The battery is brand new as of today. As is typical with me, I ripped the whole key apart to have a look at its guts. I traced the problem to a faulty soldering job - tisk tisk Lexus. Anyway, the remote works great now! :D I did have a quick glance at the fuses this afternoon, but I'll be more thorough when I look again tomorrow; checking specifically for the seat fuses this time. I should note that the lights on the switches for the heaters do go on, but that's as far as it goes. I was told by a friend with a '98 ES300 that his driver side heater has gone out already and it costs upwards of $800CAN to repair it. In other words, I REALLY hope it's a fuse. Thanks for your reply. -Dave
