Image Distortion

Recommended Posts

I bought a GS300-2006 model on July-29-2006. I have noticed image distortion in rear windshield when I was looking through the rear view mirror. I have confirmed that the rear view mirror, is fine, and the problem lies in the rear windshield.

Problem Identification: Sit on driver's seat, turn head and look through rear windshield. Alternatively look through rear view mirror. Gently bob your head up and down. I can see image distortion (the object gets a wavy appearance as I move my head up and down).

I went to the dealership to check other GS300's. I checked 3 of them and they had similar distortions. The distortions are very much evident even in the right hand corner of front windshield (where there is lot of curvature). I even checked a GS430, which had similar problems.

Can others please share their experience by checking their rear windshields? The problem has been reported in Toyota Avalon also. I found this while trying to search on google if others had reported similar issues, but could not find any references with lexus.

Thanks

Thanks for inputs.

Yes, it is sad that lexus which claims perfection is having such problems.

Ive looked and looked and I dont have this prob. And Lexus doesnt claim perfection I belive its "The relentless persuit of perfection"

Hi

Thanks for looking in your windshield. I have found the problem to be concentrated in the middle section of windshield near central vertical heating element line. Sometimes the image instead of being wavy tends to elongate. To see what I am saying try sitting in drivers seat and look at front windshield right bottom corner and move your head up and down very little. The similar distortion I have seen in mine and the others at the dealership. It is good if you don't have it.

Wow! Most people are too busy concentrating on driving to be looking for distortion in the bottom right corner of the windshield.
