Compass Display Ls430

I just purchased a 2001 LS430 (Ultra Premium) in Canada. This model does not have navigation. I can't get the compass to display the direction in the center of the guage cluster. I believe that the button disp2 (steering wheel) is supposed to switch between the outside temp and compass, I get the temperature, then I keep the button pressed for (1-2) seconds as per the manual, the temp disappears, but no compass shows up. Is it broken? Has anyone had to get it fixed.

Don't hold the button down...just press it.

You press it till temperature display is disappeared. Then press reset button below and do press disp 2 button again. You will get the compass back! :P
