Lex01_430 Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 can a car shut off if your chip senses a problem? my friend said his fuel pump went bad and his chip shut his car off on the freeway
SKperformance Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 If you fuel pump dies then your engien runs out of gas ,so it does shut down but not because it is told 2. If an engine senses a problem, it changes its mapping of timing and sensors to what is called open loop or limp home mode. It will turn into a slow unresponsive car if needed depending on the failure. But it only shuts down if somethign completly breaks
Lex01_430 Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 According to my friend his car would start after a little break. but when he was driving on the freeway it completely shut off...no power steering no nothing.
