Tow Hitch Appearance

I don't like the look of the after-market tow hitches available for my new 2005 RX 330. The horizontal bar metal wraps under the tailpipe, which also makes it pretty low to the ground. Is the Lexus product any better? I couldn't find a picture of the installed Lexus product anywhere online... can any one out there provide one?

Anyone know if there is only one type of Lexus OEM hitch for the RX330 (the 3500 rated one) or is there also a lighter weight OEM hitch? Sounds like the 3500 rated one is pretty hefty and would probably hurt my gas mileage :) I only want to attach a bike carrier, so if there is a lighter weight Lexus hitch I'd be more interested in that.

I just got my Lexus RX330 in Dec. 2005, and I have also been looking for a tubular hitch that goes behind the muffler and not under it. I have been searching the web and found only one potential hitch by Hidden Hitch, but it looks so hefty. Did you ever find any advice on locating a light Class II hitch for your RX330? I also just want it for bikes.

All the Lexus dealers in my area install the Reese Hitch. It is not a factory option it is a dealer option. The hitch weighs between 50-75 pounds and will not hurt your gas milage. The tube does wrap around under the exhaust and doesn't hang down lower than any other part of the undercarriage. The whole unit rest snuggly under the bumper.

kalinsandiego: My post on this forum is almost a year old... I looked at all the resources mentioned in the replies to that post last year, and ended up simply getting the Lexus trailer hitch. It's curved tubing, and has a much nicer appearance than the after-market alternatives mentioned. I actually had the after market hitch installed, and disliked the appearance enough to replace it with the Lexus supplied hitch. I think part of the problem is that these cars are nice-looking enough that new owners don't want to see them altered. Depending upon where you are in San Diego County, you can save money vs. having the dealer install the hitch by purchasing it from the dealer (no one else distributes them), and having it installed at a shop specializing in trailer hitches. There is one in Escondido in the Auto Park area north of West Valley Parkway.

Hi all

I have the factory installed Hitch; actually I bought the hitch and installed it myself. With a little help holding the one end I installed it in about one hour. When I have time I will take a picture and post it for you guys. I think I paid about $250.00 for it from my dealer, and it does look very nice. My RX330 had all the pre-wiring needed and I only had to bolt the hitch on and plug in the wiring harness. If you have any more questions, please ask.
