-------------- Thanks, but, I actually need help just getting the plastic cosmetic covers off of the shifter base and then that whole plastic cover underneath the shifter base - where the ashtray sits into. Any ideas? I've seen nice step-by-step photos but ofcourse can't find em' now :-). Jay Do these same instructions apply to a 1999 LS? If not, can someone post istructions for me? Much appreciated.......

100% Lexus OEM pads only, You will never have any problems. ;) DC, never say never. Find a Toyota dealer, spend $50-60, and you are ready to go.

Come on - 28 MPG, are you serious? REALLY? I drive mine conservative and can get no better than 24 combined city/hwy.

Double check all the battery terminals, And the neg. battery cable to the body, The terminals should be cleaned well and they have to be tight. Use a wire brush or sand paper. I went through a similar ordeal w/ my GS a few years back and it was the battery terminal contacts. I concur with Mr. Fish - After 30 years of driving, I believe you have a battery connection problem, NOT a starter problem.

The car is 18 years old - with apparantly no problems. I would leave it alone if it were mine.

I addition to my pair of Lexus' I own, I also own a 2002 Ford Explorer 2WD and guess what? - NO TRANNY DIPSTICK !!! However, I can get underneath the vehicle and check the fluid level. There is a plug that is removable located about two inches below the top of the fluid pan. I unscrew the plug, insert finger, if I "feel" fluid, it is full. Go figure!!!!!!

A name brand 5W-30 oil and a Toyota or Wix filter is ALL you need. ;)

Your owners manual will direct you on what to do to reset it. How about just telling us? Many are used car buyers that dont have the manual in front of us or have it anywhere for that matter. Answers like this are frustrating! With all due respect, I wouldn't own ANY vehicle without a owners manual - period.

This occured to me on a couple of occasions after driving through a few dips in the road. I opened the hood and tapped on the fluid washer fluid resevoir a few times, and and he light goes off on the dash. I'm guessing that there are some bubbles on the sensor and tapping on the resevior fixes the problem. I tried that to no avail. Anyone else have any input?

mmmm - That car looks very familiar. Ebay for the hood struts - less than $50.00 each. Treadepot.com for tires - four sets in four years - very satisfied customer here. -
I received a message from my instrument cluster that the washer fluid is low. However, the resevoir is full. How do I clear the message? Thanks.

Ah - Steve is in the house !!!! I was wandering when you were going to show up @ the party. He used a buffer on every coat. Like I said earlier, it looks like brand new - 20+ feet away. I'm 43 yrs. old - therefore, I'm into mechanical durability more than the "looks" these days.
