the 1st rx's on the east coast wont actually arrive at the port until the 14th and it usually takes 10 days from there. They will probably will rush one and get it to the dealer by the 20th.

Dealer informed me that the first 400h's will arrive at the west coast port (Portland, OR) on April 10th. They expect to see them in Michigan no later than April 20th. Luckily, my color choice is in the first group and it does not have the rear DVD so I am all set.

I spoke with the dealer tonight. He said that the cars aren't going to be introduced until the 20th. The cars are arriving in CA and being trucked to the East Coast. Now picture all of these car carriers traveling across the country with their 8 cars. It should be some sight to see a caravan of RX400hs. Actually,I'm quite annoyed. If they announced the date months ago, shouldn't they have planned to send the cars over the East Coast on time??? I know shipping directly involves the Panama Canal and more time, but one would have thought that they were sending these vehicles over for a month! Was there a strike in Japan? Or, was this due to that earthquake in Kyushu?

Wouldn't they use freight trains? I've seen them go by with car carriers.

there taking on freight carriers after they are shipped by boat. the rx 's that come from canada are shipped by freight train. The canadian rx 330's are shipped by freight train. On canadian rx 330 you must be careful for rail dust. these cars are genrally shipped on open cars and get hit with what they call rail dust, small metal particals discharged during train breaking. these hot particles burn into the paint. not something you will see on delivery but may show up as the particles rust later on. Lexus mainly raps the cars in full plastic but there are a few areas that can be affected

Personally I'm willing to place bets that the RX400h will never be released for sales to the general public.

My wife says I'm too negative. She says that's because it's easy to be negative. So ... you say some particular negative thing, and if you're right? You get to say, "see? ... I told you so!!" And, if you're wrong, everyone is usually so happy that the positive thing happened, folks forget that us "Mr. Negatives" ever said our negative stuff. It's a win / win situation ... except for the fact that we're negative.

:^)

Personally I sorta look at it this way.

The Prius was designed, clearly, with FE in mind.

My expectation for the RX hybrid was the same, FE was to be paramount.

So "my" RX hybrid has still not reached the public.

Still waiting......
