NeiLtYmE Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 so ... anyone have a picture of thier backlights cleared out ?? -neil
bbsal Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 i did the front already and posted the pictures of them so im going to to the back to match the front.
bbsal Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 so am i.i cant wait to do it just to get rid of them amber inserts.cant wait to see it clear.
bbsal Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 i also did look at it tonight and toke one tail light out just to see what it looks like and i noticed its alot thinner then the front lights so it looks like it might be easier to open but i will see tomorrow.
AusJapanWindom Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Hows this for an idea.. Has anyone thought of the whole back lights being clear.. I have seen the clear back lights for other models here in Japan, but none for the ES... Interested if someone has taken the back apart, if it is possible to take the red out as well. Or is the plastic mold actually red plastic? Just an idea.. If it is possible, I will defenitaly do it, as my ride is a 96 and silver, and clear all round would look great on silver!.. bbsal.. hurry with those pics. Would love to see... Chris
bbsal Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 doing them today i will post later on tonight..thanks
bbsal Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 also i will let you know if the red is able to come out..thanks
bbsal Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 ok i finshed the back ones today.i must have the crappyest camera because the pictures didnt come out right.i will take more pics when i get the new camera.I must say the back lights are harder then the front and you really have to take your time or you can crack the light very easy.also the only way to heat it is in the oven that i can think off.no hair dryer wil ever work because the urethane is to think
bbsal Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 heres one of the front.im going to take more during the day because the camera takes good pictures then
bbsal Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 dame i need a new camera!im going to put new pictures on here tomorrow because you cant see crap with these ones.
AusJapanWindom Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Here bbsal.. Found a pic for ya.. Mine is a 96 two tone silver.. I was looking at a site that had a few pics, and I just knew that you could get clear, or be able to clear the tail lights!. This is not my car, just a pic I found! Chris
bbsal Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 what year you have because that pic looks like a 97 or 98.i have a 95 and never seen the all clear ones yet for my car.
NeiLtYmE Posted June 19, 2003 Author Posted June 19, 2003 i dunno.... i dont think all clear on the back of our cars would look right..... you know... kinda on the rice edge ? --- maybe some clear though ... i wanna c ur pics bbsal - NT
AusJapanWindom Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Pics look good bbsal.. As to answering your question.. Mine is a 2 tone silver 1996 model... The picture with the clear tail lights that I posted is a 97 or 98.. I was just using that pic as an example of what I was wanting to do to my car, as the picture vehicle is a silver car like mine... p.s.. Will post some pics of mine also tomorrow... Chris
es3doubleO Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 hey bbsal, when you opened up the taillights was a red film that you removed or...?
bbsal Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 no the red is part of the light and cant be removed.only the orange lens can come out from the way it looks.
bbsal Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 one more thing.if you plan to do the back lights make sure you put them together right and heat them back up good because if not the will get mositure in them and that sucks.i put black silicon all around the lip before putting it back together this way i know it wont get water in them.
