Under Your Oil Fill Cap, What Do You See?

I'm considering buying a 99' RX. I'm concerned about enigine maintenance after pulling off the oil fill cap and seeing a thick black coating on part of the head. I highly doubt this is a good sign, but I'm not that familiar w/ Yota/Lex 3 liters. For all of you that maintane your Rx's, what does it look like under the cap?

their is a splash sheild that gets small amounts of oil their so it will bake and turn black under their no matter the engine condition

only way to test it properly is to remove a valve cover and a compression test
