LexuSY
Hi guys, i have a '98 es and when i use my key remote for the doors or the trunk i have some difficulty... do i have to double click and hold down the button the second time? cause sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. but it def. doesn't work if i only click it once, or just hold down the button. is it the battery? Let me know what you guys think! thanks!
amf1932
Some reasons for this problem: Weak Battery. The distance from the car when trying to actuate the doors or trunk. Radio Frequency interference in the particular area. Key contacts are oxidized. Generally, the door button opens the driver door with one push of the button and if you push the same button twice within one second it'll open all the doors. The trunk button opens the trunk but you have to hold that button down for at least one second before it actuates the release mechanism. lex
I've seen the keys with the buttons for sale on ebay, can they be reprogrammed to be used with your car?
zeta
i think the key fob's from the '97-'99 can be reprogrammed. but i'm not sure. sk shouold know. :)
SKperformance
thanks for the vote of confidence zeta the 97-99 can be reprogrammed somoen said a few weeks ago that if you get a key head for the pre 97 lexus it can be made to work the manual talks of realigneing the frequency on the original key but you stil have to find one with the same key code written on it if it is to work never mind you will have no actual key to use on the end just a key head for a button
