hollywoodnyc Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 hey.. i'm having a problem guys please help. there has been this smell coming from my car and its terrible. i don't mind the smell but its getting me real paranoid and I just don't like it. it smells a little like burnt rubber.. but not exactly. I asked another guy and he said it might be burnt clutch?? is that true? can it be my clutch burning? i doubt it but it is a possibility. here are my observations, perhaps they may help us solve the problem: -i only really start to smell this when i rev to 5000 rpm or 6000 rpm.. -i smell it a lot when i turn my car off, or when i am standing idle at a red light -when i switch gears, and press on the gas, it revs high but speed slowly increases... unlike it was previously (clutch worn out? is it slipping?) all replies are welcome and I appreciate and help. thanks!
jbarhorst2 Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 It does sound like your clutch is slipping to me.
hollywoodnyc Posted November 6, 2004 Author Posted November 6, 2004 It does sound like your clutch is slipping to me. ← thanks, i'm going to buy a new clutch today. probably one from ACT as I heard these work well in general and especially with the sc300/mkiv. thanks
bartkat Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 when i switch gears, and press on the gas, it revs high but speed slowly increases... unlike it was previously (clutch worn out? is it slipping?) Yep. I would confirm the clutch slipping diagnosis.
