RX400h Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 This list includes all the different settings that were active when the original owner received his or her RX400h. As the original owner of our RX400h, we had few, if any of these changed, but I can see how some owners would like to have some changed by the dealership. 2006 RX400h settings.pdf (conceptualpolymer.com)
Mbosque Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Thanks for this! I have the Factory Service Manuals for the 2006 RX400h and while the customization features are listed in the FSM, they are not as clearly/simply defined as on this printout. We just recently acquired our 2006 RX 400h (our first one) and with the help of a bi-directional scan tool I was able to adjust the rear Power Back Door buzzer sounds…but in the FSM and the OBDII scan tool menu the PBD BUZZ VOL customized settings are listed as Large, Small and Off. However, when set to OFF there are still 2 medium beeps that happen on open or close. Since we are new to the car, and had no point of reference, I just assumed there was something lost in translation between the scan tool and the custom settings. But the printout above actually lists the 2 medium beeps as the equivalent of OFF in the menu. Mystery solved - there isn’t a true no beep option on the PBD BUZZ VOL. Thanks for help in clarifying this for us! Just for anyone else reading this we are using the Toyota/Lexus specific LAUNCH Creader Elite T scan tool to adjust the Customize Parameters listed in the printout posted above or that can also be referenced starting on pg IN-47 in the FSM. the PBD options are on pg IN-56.
RX400h Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Thanks for your feedback, Mbosque! Our RX400h is still going strong. Some years back, the valve cover gaskets had to be replaced. Recently, the Mass Airflow Sensor valve had to be replaced (codes P0171 and P0174), and at least one lower control arm has worn-out bushings. But that's after 19.5 years and over 140,000 miles. It's been a great vehicle.
Mbosque Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Thanks Dave! Our ‘06 we picked up a few months ago via a private sale for a great price - calculated knowing we’d need to do a bit of maintenance work. We have about the same mileage as you and had a used pre-purchase inspection done at Lexus. We couldn’t get into the Indy Toyota/Lexus only shop for a couple of months. Lexus didn’t find anything major of concern. Just expected wear items to keep an eye on for the age. Just needs TLC. No accidents, or swapped panels, everything OEM despite several owners. The item we were most concerned about was the HV Traction Battery. But after all this time, it’s still around 89% original capacity with nearly even voltage across the cells/banks. Which is good, because like you’re preparing, we definitely will have some suspension work in our future. The car spent all but the last 1.5 years in AZ heat. Despite this, it still drives and handles very well and is super quiet. I did pull the rocker panels and inspected the sunroof drains, all good, just needed to replace fragile plastic clips. I’ll continue to slowly go through all the basic maintenance that should be done around 150k to make sure we’re all caught up over the next couple of months. It seems any recalls were done at Lexus in AZ many years ago. Unfortunately, the fairly recent dash TSB was missed. Luckily it is still in one piece for now. Despite multiple owners, its a real testament to how well they built the RX’s back then. Once we’re caught up on the maintenance, I doubt we’ll have much to worry about. Now I just need to keep my wife from chirping the tires from a stop. She is used to NA 4 cylinders taking time to get to speed. Then I’ll feel better getting new tires! BTW - What tires have you found work best on yours? Thanks Again!
RX400h Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 You're welcome! It looks like you did the right thing by having the RX inspected. I suggest that you keep objects away from the back seat area flooring, as that is where air is pulled in to cool the batteries. By the way, 0-60 MPH is 6.6 seconds - not bad at all! We've been using Continental PureContact ECO Plus tires. There are probably newer versions of these that I will buy, soon for the front. Michelins are often rated at the top by Consumer Reports magazine, but the cost of each tends to be quite a bit higher than Continental tires. Longevity is higher for the Michelins, however.
Mbosque Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Thanks Again! - I'll look into the Continentals. I hear you on the 3 air filters and open flow under the back seats. The filters did need some cleaning when we got it - along with the carpet in general...filters easy, carpet took awhile. I'll make sure to check and clean the back and filters regularly to stay on top of it. 1
