97 Es300 Hard To Start When Cold

Recommended Posts

My 97 ES300 takes about 2 seconds to start the engine when the engine is coldl. When the engine is still warm (within 2 hours after switching off), it starts almost instantly.

What could possibly be the problem?

I was told that the battery might be low. Is there a conveniently and reliable way to test the battery?

Thanks in advance!

mine does that, people suggested doing a tune up, but I am too lazy for that, and doubt it would help, I think its because of fuel pressure

try putting the ignition key on ON position for few seconds or doing it few times, and then start car, if it starts right away, that means that the fuel pressure is built before car was started. But it not there if the car was not driven/started for a while.

I just know to hold it half-1second longer when i first start car, and I have no problems, I dont think you should worry that much,

concerning battery, I doubt it, check if Batt light comes on, or check with v oltmeter, but I doubt that its anything to worry about

hope this helps
