Theodore Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Not mine but my cars. who has done performance upgrades in this area. can it be changed and to what?????????
Mr. Curious Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 you can always swap in a lsd from a supra tt.
Theodore Posted August 21, 2004 Author Posted August 21, 2004 thats exactlly what i wanted to hear. :) just a clean swap correct
Mr. Curious Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 thats exactlly what i wanted to hear. :) just a clean swap correct according to intellexual it does.
Mr. Curious Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 there are lsd's that are available wouldnt a used lsd from a supra tt be cheaper though?
BlurrySC300 Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 i'd get a TRD LSD....if i remember correctly...they have a nice 1.5 way LSD for only like $1,000 or so...might be less
bean_8044 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 only advantage to getting the Supra LSD, if you can find one, is the Torsen. If youre going to do any racing, then its better to get a 1 way or better
jzz30 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 yea the supra lsd is a torsen type lsd and its not quite as reponsive as a mechanical lsd so for racing it wouldnt be best. but for daily driving its probably the best becasue it doent make noise
Theodore Posted August 23, 2004 Author Posted August 23, 2004 im looking for a rear that is better then stock, but i wont be racing night and day.
Mr. Curious Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 supra it is then or maybe an IS300 one will fit? i doubt the is300's would fit.
jzz30 Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 well i gave it a shot and they do come with an lsd
blueviol Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 could someone please educate me what the lsd upgrade will do? thanks,
jzz30 Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 well when one of the tires under power looses traction the tire spins the opposite way with a normal diff. with an lsd there is some locking mechanism wheather it be mechanical, fluid or whatever which keeps this tire that has lost traction spinning in the same direction. simply said thats what it does.
