Who Has Done The Swap? 1jz Or 2jz Into A Sc400
BlurrySC300 replied to Soaring's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but well.....get ready to spend insane amounts of money and time. There are going to be alot of problems throught this little adventure of yours. -
OK, here's the deal, at wide open throttle my car has like hiccups. It's like the engine loses power almost completely, but then everything comes back. I want to say its like a fuel cut-off. I called a friend of mine at Lexus of Austin, a fellow tech, (though i'm more of an apprentice) and he thought that the problem could be with the throttle positioning sensor or the fuel pump. Any input from any of you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks --Taylor

New Non-oem Style Carbon Fiber Hoods
BlurrySC300 replied to Mr. Curious's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
I like the first pic....hmm might make a nice Christmas present....to myself -
These can be found at your Lexus dealer. I think a pack of them (4 or 5) goes for about $5....easy to install and last for about 5-6 months...at least, thats for me. Hope this help --Taylor

Well, I was reading the December issue of Sport Compact Car and came across the article about Paul Walker's R34...the thing that stuck out to me about the car was the rims. Article says that they are Prodrive rims. So I did some searching, and can't really find anything about them. I do know, that the ones he has are anthracite. So my question is this: Does anyone know if these would fit on a 1992 SC300? If no, what would need to be done to get them to fit? Because I just think these rims look amazing. Thanks --Taylor

Uhhh...isn't it discs and rotors all the way around? Therefore, e-brake would be disc and rotor as well? Correct me if i'm wrong
-
Thanks, I think i'll order em tomorrow

OK, I need new tires. Tread size 215-60-15. Been looking at Falken Ziex ZE-512...they are only like $64 per tire...have a V rating (I think)...anyone ever used these tires or used Falkens in general? I've heard good things and bad things. My friend is in love with them..so I thought I might give them a try. Just looking for some input. --Taylor

Need Opinions On Sc300 Swap?
BlurrySC300 replied to ToyoSoarer's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
5 speed...no If you are going to do a conversion, do the 6 speed (thats what I am currently doing)...just prepping the car for the actualy 2JZ...so to answer your question...keep it auto and just save up for the 6 speed conversion -
I've done some searching and haven't found what i'm looking for. Hopings some of y'all might be able to help me out. I'm looking for a different kind of hood...maybe Invader style...I dunno, just something different. Also, the hood would have to serve a purpose if it is different. So yes, carbon fiber is an option. But alas, I don't see many styles of hoods. Anyone seen anything? --Taylor

Need Opinions On Sc300 Swap?
BlurrySC300 replied to ToyoSoarer's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
OK, first, yes the SC300 can handle as much as the Supra can hold. The 700-800hp range isn't anything EXTREMELY big...a guy here in Austin has one that dynoed like 784hp to the wheels. YEs, like you said, you would either have to swap the tranny, or you could just build up the current tranny (assuming its an automatic). Second, if I recal correctly, the 1JZ-GTE is 2.5 liter...IMO the 2JZ-GTE is better..more torque due to more liters. --Taylor -
Thanks for the info guys...as always, y'all pull through

I've been thinking about relocating my batter to the trunk. The only problem is, I have no idea what I would need to do. HAHA! Any advice or suggestions?

Aftermarket Tailights...do They Exist?
BlurrySC300 replied to BlurrySC300's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
I remember asking the same question a a long while ago. If memory serves me correct, glass headlights do exist...but i'm afraid you will pay MORE than an arm and a leg for them. Not my taste personally...I just buff down the plastic headlights, apply some 3M polish and they look like glass...MAYBE BETTER! -
i'd get a TRD LSD....if i remember correctly...they have a nice 1.5 way LSD for only like $1,000 or so...might be less

Aftermarket Tailights...do They Exist?
BlurrySC300 replied to BlurrySC300's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
OZ.....am I missing something? I searched the site and didn't find aftermarket tail lights...am I missing something? Please tell me that I am -
Aftermarket Tailights...do They Exist?
BlurrySC300 replied to BlurrySC300's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
But, is that all that is available? I'm looking for different kinds of tail lights and stuff like that...thing like altezzas or black outs amongst other things -
I've searched long and hard and have yet to find some aftermarket tail lights...anyone have any luck finding any? I'm just curious as to what is out there...no necessarily wanting to change out the tail lights.

Sc300 Auto --> Sc300 6 Speed Manual
BlurrySC300 replied to BlurrySC300's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
I'm not a big fan of the whole auto transmission. Leaves too much up to the car's ECU..I would rather being doing the extra work just so I can control when to downshift and yada yada yada -
As the title says, I have a SC300 (automatic) and am interested in doing the 2JZ-GTE swap. The only thing is, I want to do it in increments. The first thing that I want to do is swap out the tranny for the 6-speed Getrag Supra tranny. Anyone had any experience in swapping an auto tranny for the Supra TT manual tranny? I'm interested in costs mainly...not including labor...I have a few friends at Lexus of Austin (where I work) that are willing to help me do it for very little cost. Thanks, --John

Depends on the condition of the body and interior....i'd say about $4500-$6000 but thats just a guess

Sc300 -> Soarer Interior Conversion
BlurrySC300 replied to BlurrySC300's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Think it would be cheaper to just import a used Soarer TT instead of going RHD? -
Well, I just got another SC300 and am wondering what the cost would be to have the interior of the car to be converted to the Soarer style...so moving the steering wheel, trading dash, and the rest of that. I have two questions: 1) How much would it cost to move the interior to the other side....make it JDM? 2) Can the JDM Soarer gauges (speedo, tach) be directly dropped in where the SC300's go? JUst a complete drop in. Thanks for the help. --John
