  3. Hi out there, I'm surely not the best of computer people but I thought there was a Classified section on this site. I have not been able to find it. Anyone have any info about it? Thanks, Jerry Baumchen
  4. Thanks everone for the replies. Jerry, they look like the picture that aquanuke posted on this conversation. I'll take some pictures and send them to you if you'd like. I'll not put them on Craigs List until after you let me know if you are interested. Again, thanks for the info. Hi Sax, Send photos to: jerrybaumchen@verizon.net And you can call me on: 503-481-4714 Thanks, Jerry

  7. The little 'bee sting' type might be what your looking for Hi there, Can you provide any specific info on that antenna? That looks sooooo much nicer than the factory device. Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi Pat, I also just purchased a '02 SC430 & it was in dire need of tires when bought. I put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on it. I bought them at a local America's Tire outlet & they cost me $1050 with balancing & install; then I got a $70 rebate. They are VERY quiet tires. I am a long-time Michelin guy so I am biased. Jerry Baumchen Thanks Jerry. I have narrowed it down to the Michelin tires or Pirelli Pzer MS Nero or the Toyo Proxes 4s... Hi Pat, I just Googled Poway. I have a very good friend in Oceanside & I will be down to visit him in a month or so. If you might want to grab a cup of coffee and 'talk' '02 SC430's get back to me: jerrybaumchen(at)verizon(dot)net Jerry Baumchen PS) Mine is white w/white interior.

  10. Hi sswan, I tried sending you an email but no luck. I have some chrome wheels I would like to get rid of. I am at: jerrybaumchen(at)verizon(dot)net Jerry Baumchen PS) Also would like to communicate with you about your spare tire kit.
  11. Hi there, I would just give a call to me mechanic or a very good alignment shop and see what they say. Using the 'SEARCH' procedure (IMO) does not seem to work so good on this forum; nor on some others that I go to. Side question: Have you ever tried to see if a wheel from your RX300 would fit onto your SC430. I am curious as my dealer has some 'take-off' wheels from a IS250/350 that he says will not fit onto the SC430. But anymore they just sit behind a computer screen and read what it says; not a lot of independent thinking these days. Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi LexKid, That is something only YOU can decide. I went in to to buy a '02 SC430 in the Fall of 2001 ( I had the $67K req'd ) but they had a 18 month waiting period then. I bought a '97 BMW 840Ci ( that was new at $77K ), sold it 1 1/2 yrs ago & took ~$25K loss. IMO, BMWs do not hold their value. I just bought a used ( 24K miles ) '02 SC430 and plan on keeping it a long time. I expect to put ~7K miles/year on it at the most. As for high-performance cars, no thanks; at my age ( 69 ) that is all behind me. It's only auto-boxes for me from here on out. One thing that I truly like about the SC430 it that it is a very quiet car. I am very happy with my purchase. It's sorta like blondes vs redheads. ;) Jerry Baumchen PS) Now, should I win the lottery, I will immediately go out & buy a Brookville 3-window coupe. B)
  13. Hi Dave, e I did some 'sleuthing'; went to tirerack.com and did some comparisons. I selected a BBS wheel ( AIR II CK ) and then selected a '02 SC430, a '02 LS430 & a '05 Camry XLE. I found that all three have a bolt pattern of 5-114; I am thinking this might mean 5 bolts on a diameter of 114 mm; but I might be wrong. Offset ( I'm not sure what that means; anyone ??? ) is 32 mm for SC430, 38 mm for LS430 & 38 mm for Camry. Backspacing ( again, I'm not sure what that means ) is 5.70" for SC430, 5.94" for LS430 & 5.94" for Camry. We have a very good performance wheel shop here in Beaverton, OR & I plan to stop by and see what info he can add/clarify. I'll post what else I find out. Jerry Baumchen
  14. Hi there, I am wondering if anyone knows if all Toyota products use the same bolt circle dimension for the lug bolts on Toyota & Lexus cars? My dealer has a set of take-off wheels from another Lexus ( I 'think' he said from a LS series ) but he said that they will not fit on my '02 SC430. Thoughts?????? JerryBaumchen
  15. Hi Chet, You will not have the room for a 'regular sized spare tire.' Open your trunk, start pulling up 'stuff' and you will see the 'hole' for the compact spare tire ( that virtually no SC430 came with ). I just replaced my RFT's with Michelin Sport A/S + tires and it makes a world of difference. I am now in the market for a compact spare. I've got some potentials but nothing purchased yet. Also, my tire pressure measuring system seems to be working just fine; at least I am not getting any nasty signals. Just my 2 cents worth, Jerry Baumchen Beaverton, Oregon PS) I think that up-post I listed all of the parts necessary if one wants to go the whole parts process.
  16. Hi Folks, I am seriously in the market for a used SC430. Given that what would some of you think would be a fair price ( yea, I know 'fair' is an unknown ) for a '02 SC430 with 23K miles and in near-perfect condition? A very long-time friend of mine ( a car-nut like me ) has looked it over and says that it is in unusually good condition with only one rock chip way down low in the front valance. I'm just looking for your thoughts. Thanks, Jerry Baumchen
  17. You WILL want to replace the run flats. There is no reason to keep them. I replaced my Dunflops with Bridgestone 960 after readings from Tire Rack. Discount Tire replaced all 4 but could not get a good balance. Soon found 3 of the 4 were out of round. I lost all confidence in Bridgestone performance tires and Discount Tire allowed me to switch all 4 to Michelin Pilot AS Plus. No problems since switching to Michelins. I tried to save a few bucks, but soon found out here that you get what you pay for. Hi Guys, For those of you wanting to add the SpaceSaver spare, here are the parts listings I got from the local Lexus dealer: 42611-24430 Wheel, Disc $144.74 90942-05009 Valve $20.81 51913-24020 Carrier Assy, Spare Wheel $29.33 51938-24010 Bracket, Spare Wheel Mtg $54.48 90105-06158 Bolt ( 4 req’d ) $9.48 90541-09101 Cushion ( 2 req’d ) $18.12 90541-09080 Cushion ( 2 req’d ) $13.62 64711-24170 Mat, Luggage Compt Trim, Rear $94.43 64716-24080 Cover, Luggage Compt Trim, Rear $149.77 64771-24040 Cover, Spare Wheel $188.36 There is one more part, a nameplate but I was not concerned with it. So far I cannot find anyone who can supply the actual tire: 145-70R17 Hope this helps, Jerry Baumchen
  18. Hi there, I have been having some trouble getting logged into this site, that is why my post had nothing to say. I am wondering if anyone has determined if the Supra SuperSaver wheel/tire will work on the SC430. Thanks, Jerry
