  1. You can mount the XM antenna on the rear package shelf but under the "material". Its transparent to the antenna. That way you dont see it at all. It takes a little longer to install because you need to remove the third brake lamp, or the back seat, depending on the car.
  2. It seems to me that the gas engine is running to heat the water so you can get heat in the car. The electric motors don't heat the water.
  3. The 400h rims are different to handle the higher torque put out by the motors. You can put RX330/350 rims on, but you will develop a vibration problem because of the rims bending.
  4. It seems to me that a rock would have a hard time hitting the condenser (because the radiator for the inverter is in front of the condenser). Usually one side blowing warm is generally a sign of a car being "undercharged". Some cars do come from the factory like this, (not on purpose), and yes it may also be caused by a leak.
  5. The GPS antenna is located under the dashboard between the NAV display and the defroster vents.
  6. Did you check the power wire on the Alternator? Is the rubber boot there? The wire could be pinched.
  7. Remove the lighter/ashtray assy. Using a test light, see if you have power at the wire. You'll probably need a new lighter receptacle. I've seen a bunch of these burn out.
  8. On the older ES there is an oil filter adapter. Th oil filter does not attach directly to the engine. The O-ring in question goes between the adapter and engine block. You do not have to remove the exhaust.
  9. I've seen alot of leaks coming from the gaskets around the taillights. Usually after bodywork has been done.
  10. OK. 1: The "front differential" is the transmission (it's called a transaxle for a reason) it uses T/IV transmission fluid. 2: The transfer case is called a transfer assembly, it transfers power to the rear wheels only, you can not shift out of all-wheel drive. It uses 80/90 gear oil. 2a: The transaxle and transfer assembly do not "share" fluid, that would be bad. 3: The rear axle is just that, and it uses 80/90 gear oil. (The transaxle does have two drain plugs, one in the pan and the other one on the bottom of the diff. part.) But you fill both through the transmission dipstick. About 4 quarts on a drain and fill. The transmission doesn't use a filter, just a metal screen.
  11. It's called drive by wire, some people "feel" the lag and still others feel nothing. Just wait until brake by wire is introduced, (is Benz using this already?) Lets just hope they'll stay away from steering...
  12. The engine mount directly under the oil filter causes the "dogbone" mount to go bad. But I never heard of them being so bad as to cause hard shifting, just clunking from R to N to D.
