When the traction control is turned off using this method, are there dashboard indications which let you know you've done it correctly?

Great info! Thanks, snallfot. I got stranded one time at the bottom of a hill b/c the traction control system removed all drive power from the wheels as they slipped in the mud/snow. A little wheel spin would have saved the day. Had to back away from the hill and take a running start at it.

Volosong, Your mileage sounds a lot like ours in our 2006 RX400h. 22.5-23.5 is typical in mixed driving for us. I tend to get less mile/gal than my better half, but I get there faster!

We have the same problem with my wife's Samsung Impression. It also disconnect randomly during a call. Drives me crazy when she calls from the car. Plan to disable her BT when she's not looking. ;-)

Does the traction battery start the engine or does the 12V aux battery do this? The reason I ask is that if it's the traction battery starting the engine and the aux battery just runs the electronics, maybe a deep cycle battery with a higher reserve capacity would do a better job than a start battery.

Had my 40,000 mile 2006 RX400h in the dealer recently for a brake repair. The dealer noticed that the battery was low and replaced it under the original factory bumper-to-bumper warranty. Are you folks saying the engine is started from the hybrid battery and not the aux battery? I thought the 12V aux battery did the engine starting and powered the accessories.

We bought a 2006 RX400h a couple of months ago. Apparently, the dealer's detailer put a high gloss finishing product on the black dashboard and the shiny, high-gloss surface now causes significant reflections on the windshield. These reflections are a great distraction while driving and and a concern to us. I took the car to the local dealer and they have tried twice to clean the dash to reduce the gloss finish. It's a little better each time, but is still a problem. We have ordered a flat-black suede dash mat to help with the problem, but wonder if others have experienced the same thing and can recommend something to clean the dash to eliminate the problem. The dash mat takes 2 weeks to make and ship. Will report back after it has been installed.

I was told by the dealer that because of the regenerative braking system, the brake pads are only used at speeds below 10 mph. This results in extremely long brake pad life for the 400h over other non-hybrid RXs.
