I can hear a shifting sound from my brakes each time i turn on the car. I can sorta feel it on my foot when my foot is on the brake. But even without my foot on the brake, I can hear the noise. Its only for about 4-6 seconds than goes away but continues to make the sound every now and then when i get to a traffic light or while driving at a slow speed than coming to a stop. I hear the noise when my car is idle or while going 10-30 mph, not when im driving at fast speeds. Lexus dealer told me its my ABS brakes shifting and the sound lets me know that its "doing its job". I just dont believe lexus engineers would want to get on someones nerves like that. Anyone have this problem or know what im talking about? please help. thx

im the guy whos black gs300 sw03es worked on....i must say, he did a great job....yes, black is the easiest color to fix. the swirls came out with no problem. i washed car the other day and the shine is better than before. now i just gotta make appointment to get vertical surfaces done.

my goodness...with $27000 here in America, you could have got a 2001 or above....man, $27000 for 1998 gs....

I love hooking up cars to. But with my gs300 the only thing I did was change the radio and put a nice system in it. Kinda made me mad that many audio shops didnt wanna touch that car. They kept complaining about the fact they have to re-wire the amp etc etc. Im dying to put rims on it. But once again, im afraid anything over the stock 16' will mess up suspension and the overall handling. I was looking to replace the upper control arm because the rubber piece was ripped and when lexus told me $475 for the control arm , I changed my mind about replacing any of the stock parts on that car. I said to myself, what if i lowetr the car and mess up the muffler or exhaust. Theres $1000 down the drain. I just cant afford to take the risk of messing anything up. ie..lowering car and damaging the bottom, exhaust, etc etc. But again, I like what ive seen so far on this board. Some of you have done a nice job on your cars. Maybe if I hit the lottery, Ill go all out and change everything B) (after I buy my lamborghini of course)

what did you pay for your "precious" lexus with 40,000k??? if you dont mind me asking..did u get a warranty?

I use to drive a Honda before I bought my 98 gs300. with the honda, I lowered it, put intake and the overall works in that car. Pretty much like fast and furious. Most of that stuff ruined my car. Lowering my car trashed my suspension, rack and pinion and lots of damage was done to my honda. To make a long story short, after the hell i went through with my honda damaging this and that, theres no way i would touch my GS especially with the price of lexus parts. Does anyone think about the damage that could be done to your car by changing all those things like lowering car, intake etc? just wondering. i dunno, i personally cant turn my $40,000 car into a fast and furious type car. I would rather do it to a honda, toyota type car than lexus, mercedes etc.. hope no one feels like im bashing them. I actualy ike some of the hooked up cars ive seen here. just wouldnt do it to my car.

Yea i paid 18,000 for my 98 gs300 with 54000 miles...but the car was painted....i didnt care though...according to carfax, no accidents and 1 owner...i know i can still sell for 17-18 with 65000 miles...in my area at least

front speakers are 5.25..... but dont even touch them...no need to replace....i have pioneer radio and 1000 watt fosgate amp running to 12' fosgate power subs and my system kicks !Removed!. Im using factory speakers and they sound the same, if not, better than the infinity speakers i had in my honda. Hook up radio, amp and sub and see how you like it. If youre not satisfied (which i doubt), then replace the inside factory speakers and install 4 channel amp. You get real nice highs and the system is really clean with factory..at least im satisfied and i saved a bunch of money by not purchasing speakers, and labor to install 4 chan amp and speakers...hope this helps

I bought my black 98 gs300 a month ago and i just realized that there are white circular swirls all over my car. You could only see it from the side or when the sun shines on it. But its *BLEEP*ing me off. I think the detailer at the dealer used a dirty rag or buffer. Can these swirls come off? Detail shops in my area want between 100-130 to polish and buff it to get rid of swirls. What do you guys suggest? Something I can do myself? What should I use? Thx guys

i just bought mine also...98 gs300..im 26 no accidents or tickets ever and i pay 147 a month with geico. Progressive and a few others wanted almost 1700-1900 for 6 months. I paid 680 for full coverage with geico. couldnt beat that price...I SAVED A BUNCH OF MONEY ON MY CAR INSURANCE BY GETTING WITH GEICO!!!!!!!!! LOL Yea dude, you should have researched a bit more before buying that type of car at your age. If i were you, id stay on your parents insurance. good luck and congradulations

I just bought a 98 gs300 and went to best buy and circuit city to buy audio products such as speakers and radio. Heres the deal...according to the techs, 6.5 speakers wont fit in the car...apparently, they are to big and they wont fit even though the store computer said that 6.5 goes into that car. we didnt test it out, he just assumed that they wont...i guess hes worked on these cars before. so the guy said i might have to go with 4'' speakers all the way around (front and rear). Than he said that they wont even touch it because its a pain to take out the door panels to install speakers. 2nd problem- he said the car has a factory amp and that it has to be re-wired in order to install a new aftermarket 4 channel amp. Has anyone had trouble installing a aftermarket system? Do 6.5 speakers fit into these cars or do they have to be custom done? What about adding a 4 channel amp? one more question....where do i get the wiring harness? lexus dealer, ebay? if i get a pioneer radio, do i need a pioneer harness or will a universal one due? thx guys!!!
