this morning i turned on the car and as i began to accelerate, the engine began to misfire a bit. when i got to the stop sign, the engine was shaking the car. had some rough acceleration and then the check engine light started blinking. the light stopped blinking and a 10 minutes later, the car started to drive fine. I had spark plugs changed at dealer back in december 2004. What do you guys think? Friend said it might a dirty gas line or something. Since the check engine light blinked a few times, is that code now stored in the system?????? Im thinking of going to dealer to see what problem is.....

it was the upper control arm.....i knew about it but why was the noise coming from behind the tire...i think it was something small like a loose belt, power steering etc.. but the mechanic decided to make some money off me by saying it was the upper control arm....it was rusted and the rubber piece was ripped... dunno, but it cost me $300 including labor (used part) new upper control arm from lexus wold have cost me $475

98 gs300 when stopped at a red light etc..... i turn the steering wheel left and right, i can hear a squealing noise coming from the passenger side. you can only hear the squealing noise when the car is stopped (in park or stopped at a light etc) never when i accelerate or when car is moving 2-5mph any ideas? thanks dudes

98 gs300 the other day i began to hear noise when turning the wheel...i dont hear the sound when turning.....only when the car is in park and im turning the wheel left and right and also when moving slowly at a slow speed like 5mph...i jerk the steering wheel left and right fast and i can hear a clanking noise its coming from the passenger side and when i looked above the tire, i could see the black rubber piece that goes with the upper control arm was ripped. could this be the reason i hear clanking noises when turning the wheel left and right while car is at rest? PS i take it back, its not clanking noise..more like a squeaking noise.....with a little bit of cranking noise..:)

I recently had the rear bumper replaced on my black 98 gs300. the day i picked up the car, it was snowing so i couldnt really see the job done on the bumper but all looked fine. I noticed recently that there are these "water looking stains" on each side of the bumper. You know, they look similar to water marks left on your car when you let it air dry. Hope you guys get the picture. anyway, i tried everything to remove them. With my nails, fingers, rag etc just rubbing back and forth. I assume these are marks deep in the paint or something because we tried using products to remove these "stains". Any idea of what it could be? What caused this? My dad said its clearcoat or something that they didnt apply correctly. Any ideas?

Back in December 2004 I took my Black GS300 to a local autobody shop (Cherner) to repair hail damage. First let me say I got into it with those guys because even though the dings from the hail are gone, you can clearly see the car has been painted etc...anyway, whatever they used/did to clean my car caused an unbelievable amount of swirls. They said "OHHH just use Maguires and it will get rid of the swirls"....After nearly getting close to hurting everyone in that shop, I left and decided to take care of the swirl issue myself before they did more damage to my car. So SWOES300, I remember back in the summer you worked on my car to get rid of the swirls. Now I need your advice...what is the best detail shop that you recommend in the DC/Maryland area? I want to get rid of swirls on my car once and for all. I have tried everything that i know of..wash, wax, different swirl removers etc..i guess its the technique im using...but whatever im doing is not working.... HELP!!!!!

your daytime driving lights are bulb size 194. Cost me 2.57 at pep boys. (online store) I bought xenon, blue and purple and I installed each one to see how they look and they look real good. Try ebay also. Just type 194 in search and see what you like. All my lights are clear except for DRL which are purple. Look ok to me. i stick to eurodesignz only because when lights burn out, you can get them repla ed for 6.95. Not bad to me and the brightness is good enough for me. PIAA is the best to me but you have to dish out a little money. PS you can also get them in yellow but hard to find. stay away from amber (orange) ewwww high beam bulb size-9005 low beam-9006 fog light-9006 daytime running lights-194

Yes, you do get what you pay for..in the past ive never had problems with the ride or peeling of rims. There are some really nice wheels out there for a good price. Like I said, I love Lexani, Giovanna etc but I just cant spend $3000+ on wheels. No way. Check out Lowrider magazine. Asanti, Alba, Kaotik, Velocity, Traxx etc all make really nice wheels for a good price. 20" are no more than 1800 with tires. But I respect everyones opinion. If you have $3000+ to spend on rims, go for it! (even if i had it to throw away, i still wouldnt spend that much) Its like a nice suit. Sure, you can tell difference between Armani and a suit from Sears, but you can still look damn good with a Sears suit....Am I makin sense?

not to be mean, but spending $3000+ on rims is just rediculous. You truly have to be out of your mind. No one cares about the name. And honestly thats all your paying for. Lexani rims vs. Velocity. They have similar styles but Lexani just costs wayyy more. Rims are Rims to me. $1500 gets you really great looking rims. And the good thing is, for that price, if i ever decided to sell them, they are so expensive in my area that getting 20' wheels for 1500 is a steal. So i can get my money back no problem. Do you know how hard it is to sell rims that you paid $3000 for??? Just look on ebay and see how many bids are placed on rims that cost that much. They better have diamonds on them. I cant believe you guys would spend that much. $3000 can get you rims and a cheap used car...lol

wow! I like the ones Deadmilenko posted....I especially like the black GS thats lowered. I love those rims.....I thought mine look similar but i dunno....you guys just gave me more ideas....its hard to pic rims without seeing them on your car first.. my budget is around $1500..tires and rims included....ive been looking in lowrider magazine shopping for rims....buying wheels from california has ALWAYS been cheaper for me...any rims i pick from a magazine and take to my local wheel shop costs almost double than the price i get from shops in california. really weird <_< keep posting if you like....i really need help...i dont want to pick something, see them on my car, then hate them....thats 1500 down the toilet.. PS I appreciate the help

2nd pic was my choice also. to goddy? i dont like that sport look at all. I cannot stand racing rims. I think racing rims are a complete waste of money. Im all chrome baby. everybody has a preference. Mine is thick rims, 20' and all chrome. but thanks for the feedback. sounds like nobody liked the rims im thinking about but its ok. My lex breaks more necks than anybody elses ive seen in this forum...only dude that can hang or has better mods is bluelex and turbo gs. still love u guys though

DRL are Highs running at 50%??? So replace them with size 9005 or 194? Im trying to give my lights the "xenon" look......:)

i know the bulbs on headlights 98gs300 are size 9006. The foglights are the same size. BUT what size are bulbs for the 2 smaller lights (daytime driving lights)?? Thanks guys

you can get a 2000+ for 21k. Maybe a little more miles but not that much. The GS has dropped in price a bit since the generation GS is coming soon. I wouldnt pay 21k for a 98. I had 53,000 miles on my 98 gs300 and paid 18k.

well it hasnt done it since i changed timing belt and serpentine belt with spark plugs. I also use to use cheap gas. I pump nothin but premium now.

You will feel such a difference when you replace that timing belt. I just replaced mine with the serpentine belt and spark plugs for $700 at the dealer. I asked them about water pump and they said you dont have to do it. My car has 64,000 miles. They said those things rarely go bad. But with your mileage, i recommend it.

Ok, made a discovery today...its the passenger side door thats giving me the problem. I hit the lock button on the remote, hear a beep, the hinge closes half way, then 3 seconds later another beep and hinge locks and dome light goes out. Im gonna have to look at the back doors to see if hitting the lock button locks all the doors or does the hinge also lock halfway on those also...... then look at passenger side door to see if its JUST that door thats giving me problems. when i sat in the car and unlocked the doors from the panel, i had to hit the unlock button twice in order for the passenger side door to fully unlock. Turbogs300 said it might be actuator. Next time i use the panel, i will check to see if back doors are unlocking or do they also open only after i hit the unlock button twice. then i will know its not alarm and maybe just that passenger side door...gotta do a little bit more experimenting but will keep you guys updated... Cold as hell here in DC to be standing outside playing with this damn thing <_< sorry im confusing everybody. easier to show you than explain..... oh yea RIP Reggie white
