  1. deutsch, fram and purolator makes them....I had my filter ordered by autozone. It only costed $15!!!
  2. There's a product called Novus plastic cleaner/scratch remover. There are three stages to their product. Novus 1.-cleaner, 2.-scratch-remover and 3.-for heavy scratches. They worked nicely for my GS headlight. I definetly reccomend them! They worked so good that they even use them on aircrafts!!!
  3. You can get them at any lexus dealer and most large autoparts store "autozone, pepboys"and If the they don't normally stock them. Most likely they can order for you!!!
  4. It was serviced by Lexus at 46k...It now has 62k on right now! So the tranny was in the high level since then. But the tranny does seems operating fine! The fluids drained out dark red with no metal filings...thank god :whistles: !!!
  5. Here's the story...Bought my GS from a private owner and showed me all the service records from with Lexus. Thinking cool, until yesterday when I check the tranny fluid level and was way beyond the "H" mark. So I proceeded to do a drain and refill on the tranny. It drained out little over 4qts of fluid "that's almost twice as much as required". I filled it to up and only needed 2 1/4 qts. . I know the consequence of overfill and now I'm hoping the tranny is OK! It was my mistake of not checking earlier...But to all Lexus owners out there double check to make sure everything is proper on your vehicle often!!! Kevin
  6. Thanks silkoccy !!! That is awesome....I will call Lextasy for more info!!!
  7. I'm also interested in installing video into my GS also but would like to keep my factory navi system. Found this link at the a/v section of of LOC Check this out---->Vidieo-Nav. That way maybe you can just throw in a dvd player to replace the factory cd and get the screens for the headrest!
  8. It can be done, but will take some work since the volume control and other controllers will have to be relocated eslewhere or you will need some sort of controller to replace that. I think it would be much easier if you would swap out the factory cd player with the dvd player and go from there!!!
  9. It would be a problem if the pinstripes were painted on. Other then that should be no problem removing it!
  10. Be aware that the 90,000 service will be soon for that vehicle. It willl be the most extensive and costly of all services. Both the timing belt and spark plugs will most likely be part of that. The car probably has been sitting on the lot since last june so that could be questionable as to why and if service is performed accordingly. Maybe you can check that vin# out at another lexus dealer for the service history. Kevin
  11. Looking good as always and beautiful shots....Think I will try out zaino :D !!!
  12. I thought they are distributorless with coil packs...are you sure there are plug wires in the 1st place!!!!
  13. Checkout Sumitomo HTR+. They are quiet and have long tread wear! I have them on my other vehicle "300ZX" and what a difference it made. I plan on getting them for my GS400 soon from tirerack.com!!! Kevin
  14. Wow...not bad at all :whistles: !!! Looking good bluelex!!!!
  15. It sounds nice with a throaty rumble to it . Have you done anything to the engine?
  16. Hi all, I will do some routine maintenance soon. I have some questions regarding Power steering and coolants used on my 99 GS. My power steering is slightly below full it looks a bit brownish clear. Am I reading the manual correct or is it a misprint? The manual states the use of ATF dexron III for power steering. I thought dexron ATF are redish in color? So are they compatible? And second, I've checked the coolant and it's reddish in color. But the manual calls for ethylene glycol which is traditionally green in color. Are the red toyota/Lexus coolants any special or maybe I have the wrong coolants in my car now? Would appreciate feedbacks!!! Thanks, Kevin
  17. Hey what's up gslx4s, Would appreciate if you can send me the video! Would like to hear the exhaust tune of your GS :) . My email is : Lkevon@aol.com. Thanks, Kevin
  18. Had my GS400 for little over 8 mo. now and not a single problem on it since. So really I can't tell you much on problems it might have. But one known problem I've been hearing alot on 98+ GS is headlight condensation? I Bought my GS with 50k from a private owner with service records to show. As with buying any used cars you just have to look carefully. I've test driven a brand new 03' GS430 and could not tell much of a difference in terms of power and feel. I thought the Mark Levinson system was nice on the 430. I'm not 100% sure but I think 98-00 GS's have a hardrive based navi system and 01' + GS's have a DVD Navi system. One thing I dislike about Lexus navi system is that the vehicle has to be completely still in order to operate. But heard there is an overide for the dvd base version. I would not recommend the navi system for the 98-00. But if you're not good with directions then it's not a bad option to have especially if you can find one with a good deal :) . Good luck!!!! Kevin
  19. Found out yesterday from the dealership that timing belt replacement is performed at 90k!!!
  20. Have you tried new battery for the remote? or try using the 2nd set of key. I have 2 sets of keys...It happened on both before! Guess what, The battery was low!!!So I installed new battery "CR1616 from radio shack" and works fine now!!! Kevin
  21. From what I recall I think it mentioned replacement of timing belt at 90 or 100k miles on the maintenace booklet. But saw some posting by other GS owners doing it at 60k. So I would like to know when did you guys change the belt? Thanks!!!
  22. Hi all, Just wondering if a GS400 V8 is an interference or non-interference engine. My car just hit 60k and wondering if it's really necessary to replace at this time. Would appreciate feedback! Thanks in advance!!! Kevin
  23. This worked on my GS: 1- start the car and turn on the parking lights 2- Hold on to the climate ctrl and audio buttons same time 3- While button still depressed,Turn parking lights off,on,off,on, and off This should put you in the service nav menu!!!
  24. Hi Jimmy, I've had the same problem with my GS's front left side from a pothole. I had to replace one of my OZ rims due to it being bent beyond repair :( . But I think my problem was more noticeable "more like a rubbbing sound". Didn't have a clanking sound to it though. Turned out the wheel bearing was dammaged. You should have the problem checked out. There could be something damaged or out of placed causing the sound. Kevin
