  1. Interesting about the Muffler Delete...you guys should Record or Video these modifications, so others can decide if they want to do the same! i admit the LS sounds Bad-A** in the High RPM Range, even with the Mufflers and resonators! B) i havent heard an LS round here with deletion of either parts.

  2. Here is the bottom line fellas...FILLER!! when you buy Maxwell House Coffee, or Foldgers, or even Dog Food...they all have FILLER in them. meaning less "true" product for more money. 90% Gas, %10 Nitrogen is just a marketing scheme as some of you are saying is true. inactive Nitrogen wont hurt the fuel system nor will it improve it....but its super cheap and people buy into the idea!!

just look in a can of regular coffee and you will see the off-color product in there - that is just filler. next time you buy an expensive name brand of coffee, a bag of Starbucks for example look at the difference in the texture of the product...big difference!

Problem is we can choose what kind of Coffee we want, but we cant choose what Gas goes into our vehicle, we cant see, or chemically compare the product. go figure!

  3. ...great Pics SK!! is there any way to change the color of the Halos?? it looks great the way it is...like it was from the factory that way.

you have encouraged me to get some RX350 Rims now that you said the turn radius isnt affected much....and the spacers arent thick enough to affect the ride much.

  4. I'd trust an Ohm meter :D

  5. Hmm...

I think there's something not being told.....

ODOs don't just reset to 0.

Something just doesn't add up to me.

I agree, Have never heard of an ODO resetting itself to 0, Not even trip A&B

This is my point!!!!!!! I work at a aftermarket exteneded warr. company and I'm quite handy with cars. I know that mileage doesn't reset to 0. This is was is freaking me out. It obviously wasn't intentional better yet how in the world could it have happened? It has TOTALLY blown my mind. Does anyone know where mileage is stored (i.e. ECU, instrument cluster, etc.).

I'm just wondering if there is any way to get it back to the correct mileage?

Being this is a one in a million Bizzaro incident....i believe even the Lexus dealership may even tell you your "SOL"....but i would call them just to be sure.

it might be an impossibility to ever get it back though.

  6. I bet the insurance guys are lovin' you mulit-vehicle peoples!!! on another note, just took a trip to Burkville,(Newton) TX in the LS, and it did great! the only issue i had was the main vent freezing up due to low Freon in the AC, but no biggie, running the outside air solved that issue. 1800 miles total with an average of 23 MPG w/2 passengers and a full trunk of luggage at 75 mph average. I love to travel in this....747 as someone called the LS.

time for Shocks and rod bushings this summer!!

by the way, i absolutely LOVE the way Texas builds thier roads, even the backroads were smooth and very well laid out....cant say that for Louisiana and Missippi heading west on I-20 was Awful!!! :(

  7. Where is the fuel filter on a 2000 LS400? I have 130,000 miles and it is original. Yesterday it started then stopped and would not restart. After sitting and a lot of cranking it finally started. This repeated another time. All of this while parked in my garage. I am wondering if the fuel filter needs replacement? Not sure where it is located.

did your check engine light come on? if so i would find a way to get a diagnostics done, whether you rent the tool from an auto parts store or borrow from someone...that should be your first step.

Did you just fill up with gas?

where there any symptoms before this occurance?

The Fuel Filters are a lifetime design, so if you decide to replace it, make certain that is your issue.

good luck on the venture!! :)

  8. these rims seems to bend easily if you hit a unforseen pothole or speedbump to hard...i have 2 warped rims on mine, one pretty bad which is the spare now, and the other is barely noticeable...it was pointed out to me when i had my Lifetime balance and rotation done...good excuse to purchase some good upgrades!! RX350 rims like SK has... :)

  9. Maaaark!

    You DO have foglights! :D

....im talking about the ones that fit in the front skirt silly!!... they are trapezoid-ish in shape?? i've seen em on a silver one like mine the otherday...couldnt tell if they were aftermarket or factory, they just looked brand new.

my 95 LS is the very base model you can get - which i dont have to mess with the air-adjust shocks and im glad for that....

:) here is a pic of my ride, and you can tell me if there is "fog" lights anywhere on there!!

  10. .....SKPs is a 2nd gen.. a 2.5gen let's say.

The fluting in the headlights of the 95-97 would make it pointless to put halos in.

If you want some kind of custom headlights for your 95. ...

Go to Club Lexus and talk to Lexkost.

He retrofitted some Jetto MkIV headlights onto his car and got a clear housing. Looks really nice.

..guess you got a point <_< ill check it out....i would really like some fog lights too eventually...

your car looks really awesome SK!! certainly is a stand-out! ;)

  11. Mark....

Do the headlights on a 95 resemble those headlights at all???

A man can dream can he NOT?? I was just wondering if the same setup was available for our 2nd gens is all....cause they should be.... :( (Marvin !Removed! music abruptly stops)

better question, how much would one pay if they were available for all Gen LS's!!

  12. if you have the budget for the Mich's, go for those - worth the price for the least amount of issues. a good tire on a tighter budget in my opinion, is the General Tire RT's or HP's...i have 15k miles on mine and so far a great tire with a nice tread pattern...just make sure you stick with the scheduled tire roatations.

as far as seafoaming goes, to each thier own opinion about this process..there is many threads on this topic. use the search option and read through these threads and you will see different results...

if your engine is bone-dry free of leaks, and you have your doubts about seafoam usage after reading the threads, then dont do it. proper removal of hard carbon build up is a tear down and rebuild. regular maintanance pretty much keeps these cars running strong.

    Happy Lexin!

  13. one more thing SK, has there been a big sacrifice in turning radius of your lexus with the bigger rims? and what tires do you have on those rims?? i would love to do that setup, but i love my turn radius on my LS. i giggle everytime i see a Lincoln or Caddy pull in a parking spot and have to back out and readjust!!! :D

I just whoop mine right in there!

  14. thanks for the link blacktop!...will definately tackle this job after i get back from the great state of Texas.

I use to work on old Ferrari's all the time SRK!! I WISH!! the shims are available at one o' these parts stores, ive seen them listed before..and the "depressing tool" i can borrow from a Guru Tuner i know.

    Marishka Hagitay!!

  15. UPDATE

Looks like the crossmember for the tranny mount needs to be removed so you can angle the engine down as well.

I think this would be a perfect time to replace the trans mount too! :D

The old EGR tube split into 2 pieces where the crimps are.

Can't wait to get my car out and hear it! :D :D

....I really need to inspect mine then, i may have the same problem with my 95'! let us know how it does!!

  16. to put it in perspective...

If you have a mechanic do this job it's around ~$600.

Very labor intensive, and only for seasoned mechanics.

    ....labor intensive....seasoned mechanics...$600 - $1100 bucks....

well, as a semi-wise man once put it, "if it aint broke, don't fix it!"

i think i will at least check the clearances at the recomended engine temp with my flats gauge as im changing my valve cover gaskets, and if its too far out of spec - i will have it "profesionally done" but im gonna have to watch him/her do it....it's just tough for me to put my baby's care in someone elses hands. :(

thanks for the replies Crome and Fatty!

  17. Update.

Part number for the crush washer to the water inlet, IACV gasket

    Crush Washer:

    90430-20004

    IACV Gasket:

    22278-50011

Those part #s, at Carson/Toyota?? or just any parts warehouse...

i will be following suit on this project!

  18. I was wondering if anyone actually had to adjust thier valves with shims, i havent checked mine yet, but was just wondering about the difficulty of the job if I needed to adjust mine any when i do check them....

....I couldnt find anywhere on the post where someone actually had to adjust them.

    Thanks! B)

  19. Make sure you have the reciept and description of the work they did, it doesnt have to be detailed, but make sure your insurance company knows of the repairs done on your car before the accident - have them fix your car and let them battle it out with Midas - this may be a possible way you should do it...i wouldnt even call Midas, let your insurance agent inform you first!

Sorry bout your car man...thats awful! but good thing you arent hurt!

  20. I'm not buying into this idea that the Lexus is a repair-free, problem-free car. Just look at all the people on this forum looking for help. Heck, I spent $500 myself trying to trace down a suspension noise.

With the proper maintenance/repairs, though, I'm sure Lexuses last much longer than most other cars.

And they're not, trust me. I spent thousands of dollars on my 95 LS, mostly due to gaining confidence in my repair ability and wanting to try. But, you've also got to take into account the fact that many of the folks on here asking "help me" questions, are driving 10+ year old cars. Age hurts almost as badly as neglect. But, I get what you're saying, I really do. As Lexus has a unique characteristic about their cars, that isn't matched by anyone else, so does Mazda and their zoom-zoom approach. Which they do very well. You won't find a match to that characteristic in the Toyota branding, period. Nissan and BMW are about as close as you're going to get. I always felt like our 3gt drove more like a little BMW 318ti of yesteryear, then any other type of 'small' car on the market. VW has their feel too. I think what you're wanting, is exactly what Toyota engineers dial OUT of their cars, which is also what attracts a lot people to Toyota. That is, the road. Toyota insulates you from the pavement and the mechanicals of the car. Especially the Lexus brand. They go for "smoooooth" operations. Mazda, doesn't even really try. Of the asian cars, I would have to say Nissan has created the best balance between the two. But, ever driven a 50k mile nissan? They're not the same car you bought new.

If I could, I would have kept the 3 for my "toy" car. But, that just wasn't in the cards.

I think you'll also see more repairs on Toyotas now too. I think the curse of being #1 is going to get them. #1 = bullseye on your back. #2 is the best spot to be in. I say this, because it seems to me that the cars built up to 2005/06 seem to be performing better then the 06+, when Toyota was clearly going to take the #1 spot. Getting something, and keeping something, are two totally different animals. I'd rather have something in the "getting phase", then in the "trying to keep it phase".

well said! and there is only a small percentage of people who actually pay attention to the ratings and reviews of vehicles, and since new car sales are trimming and used car sales are booming, more people are starting to do thier research on reliable, affordable vehicles - and the 90' - 06' LS is within that top Category.

Heck, i researched on Edmunds used car reviews - and thats how i found the LS...just read the reviews on any of them and its 95% good stuff.
