  1. No affiliation, but there are plenty of sellers on eBay who are selling aftermarket LEATHER seat covers (depends on your interior colors), and some who are selling used OEM seat covers. Might find a sweet deal. My driver's seat back is beat to heck and I'm looking that way, if i decide to keep the old girl. Been having some problems with her, and have had to buy a car to replace her, since I'm not sure if I wanna pour money into getting her fully operational.
  2. IMO, best to get an aftermarket door/alarm system. Dealer wanted to charge me $450-650 for new keys with remote button, and they said they would have to replace the sensor in the dash. Lots of aftermarket systems out there will allow you to have way more remote functions, including remote start, trunk pop, gascap pop, etc. You will pay anywhere from $250-$500 for alarm and installation, depending on how well you research your prices and how many functions you want it to have.
  3. Unless you're determined to have the actual keys with the little button on the side, you might want to look into getting an after-market multi-function remote. This same problem happened to me; they keychain loop to my key with door remote broke off completely, and i went to three different dealers (both toyota and lexus) to see how much it would cost. They wanted between $450 and $650 to replace the key, the remote sensor in the vehicle, AND cut a spare. For the same price, I found a Clifford door lock/alarm/remote start on Amazon, and had it installed. This remote has approximately a half-dozen different functions it can perform, including popping the trunk, popping the gas cap, pretty much anything you want that is electrically wired in the car. I was able to get the system AND the installation for just over $400... To Hades with the OEM key remotes, I say.
  4. Okay, maybe I'm just mechanically declined, but the posts in the link you gave suggest a NEW ECM versus re-flashing. Was told by Toyota dealer mechs (no Lexus dealer locally) that ECM is dead. They wanted $1500 for parts and labor. Suggestions as to where I can get a new ECM for a decent price? I'm trying not to give up completely on my beloved 94 LS400, even though it's currently needs more than $4k worth of repairs (as estimated by aforementioned mechanics).
  5. NOTE TO MODERATORS: Apologies for posting this thread in the incorrect category, thereby violating the rules in your "FOR SALE" Category. Lack of attention to detail on my part.
  6. The ECM on my 94 LS400 recently died. It's currently operational/driveable, but can't guarantee its ability to function for much longer, as i don't know what else is wrong with it. I can't justify throwing a couple grand in for the ECM and a couple other minor maintenance problems. If there's anyone interested in a fixer-upper, or someone interested in buying it for parts, please contact me at writingincircles@aol.com. Body is in good condition, tires only two years old, and brand new water pump installed less than two months ago. Tan/mocha two-tone exterior, tan leather interior with matching mocha accents inside. Moon roof, 6-CD changer, etc. Vehicle located in southwest Arizona. I will entertain all reasonable and SERIOUS offers, but it needs someone who is capable of restoring it to its former glory.
