  1. you need 4 apps of fert min, lime, and issues for grubs/inserts etc. Problem is most homeowners apps are the stuff at china-mart or HD. I use Leco since it is better. I also like to use only spray but I need some grans. I agree, most homeoners over app since most don't know what what grass they have, soil levels, think more is better and some think the pros and homeowners have the same stuff.

I use Dimension 2EC for pre-post (up to 3 tiller) emg ($800 for 2.5 gallons), Drive 75 ($140 for 1lb), talstar for insects ($60 for 32 oz), Confront for weeds ($200 per gallon), Merit ($80) for grubs I can go on and on. Works 100 time better and use very little. Most homeowners do not understand what the real stuff is. Heck a nice spreader is $300 to $500.

I agree aerate is one of the best but I would toss in a new pre-emg in the fall and it will stop about 80% of the next years crab.

Lastly, I would never use Scotts stuff; over priced and there ferts are nothing that great.

Grass is anyother hobby. In fact I just installed another inground sprinkler sys. 9 zones, 54 PGP/I-20 Hunter heads, ProC controller, 2,000 ft of poly pulled, Blazzing saddles, over 200 ft of Funny, mini-click wireless, etc...Lawn get approx 1" of rain per week.

I have 3 show dogs and kids. The trick, I feel, is water in fert etc water in 24 hours later, then wait to dry and you are fine..But I wait 48 hours onces dry and then all go on. After that time, it is in the root system. Also be careful with the mulcher...Too much is a bad thing

  2. Local dealer told me that the reason I was getting the warning lights was that the "charcoal cannister was soaked due to overfilling". Does this make sense to anyone or is it an attempt to set me up for an expensive repair, or does he just not know why the warning lights are on?

If it is, it is a FREE to replace since it is a FED emmisions issue

  3. first time heard about differential service on the ES. I have a 01, it should be the same.

    two question:

1/ what is the benefit of change differential fluid? Didn't see it in the owner manual.

2/ where is the filler tube? it is the same one that you use to refill ATF? I drained and refilled my tranny awhile ago.

    Thanks!

    answers I hope.

1/ Benfits is cleaner fluids and less wear/tear on tranny from diff wear. Think of it like a rear diff on a car or a front diff on a 4x4 truck. Or a front diff on a 4x4 tractor, or hyd unit on a tractor...I am running out of things here! :)Do not put much faith in manuals. Most tell where a seat belt is and the tires...

2/You are correct on the fill tube.

  4. blah........i've had a 92 1100 gsxr, a 95 katana 600, a 95 katana 600 (started with a 1200 bandit motor and ended with my old 92 1100 motor shoved into it!), a 98 tl1000, a 98 gsxr 750 srad (my fav bike),a 2004 gsxr 1000, a 2005 gsxr 750, a 2005 gsxr 1000, and i just aquired another 2005 gsxr 1000 (love that bike)............i just never thought u needed a turbo on a bike!

    brian

    NICE! :)

I would like to go over like 210 with like 20 lbs boost but say for what. After 150 things get weird in the front end. In Texas it is very easy to do over 150+ on I-10...Not that I have tried or do it.

  5. What do you mean "If you MUST" run the Toyota fluid? Are you implying it is somehow suspect, or beneath your quality standards? Why is it that Amsoil users are so zealous and denigrate all other lubrication products so quickly? Have you ever seen inside an automatic transmission, or better yet, rebuilt one yourself?

I say most users are stuck on the toyo spec stuff. Toyo will work along with others. I have tried others and Amsoil ATF is so far the best out there, that I have tried. Some Amsoil users "denigrate" others since some like me TEST the fluid and see the results. For me, I will buy Amsoil for less $$$ then toyo and provide more bang for the dollar. But buy whatever makes you get a "hard one" to be integral with a certain mod here.

  6. Thanks so far, going to head out to pep-boys and see what they have in terms of Haynes books / sensors and see if they have an affordable scanner.

If you can get a FSM online get it. There is a site (sorry I do not have the link) that will allow you to download FSM for XXX days , when you pay. When I did it, it was $9 for 1 day. I went nuts!

The haynes is okay but FSM is the best. I have a snp-on micro scanner and just bought another scanner. Snap-on upgrades are WAY to much money. I like the new one since it does CAN since OBDII is DEAD now!

  7. Welcome to LOC!!!!

I always suggest people buy a OBDII/CAN scanner. Worth there weight in gold, big time. Saved me alot in time and $$$$.

But go to autozone and they will test for free. Save you XX dollars. You can did it yourself, very easy and 1000 to 1 you will NOT need all 3..

OEM sensors are about $150 each +/- and aftermarket are from 30 to 90

  8. Do you carry Health Insurance? So why not insurace on a machanical vehicle. The same goes for the car. No matter how perfect a Lexus may be it still can have its problems. Thats why we carry warranties.

If lexus is so good, you get the idea. I have health issue for my FAMILY, not for me. I do not use it. I have it and do not use since I know what issues, ha ha, I have.

Again if you have control of your quality (SPC, 6-sigma etc) you are golden on mfg.I worked in quality and they know what that have 20+ years ago. I worked with toyo years ago too..

  9. Ok, each to his own, here is a picture of the rear plug: post number 63

You know a lot of people like myself have a tremendous amount of experience on cars, and then there are those at least trying to make efforts to learn, and broaden their knowledge, so that hopefully the stealerships dont rape them when they walk in the door. That is why these forums are great, and lots of times the fixes come up that the dealerships cant seem to find or want to charge you for unnecesary parts replacers. have a great day

I agree people love the one-way internet forums.

So you are telling me that pix is on a ES, 97 model in an RX forum? I can't believe I clicked on a crappy link...I do not trust that site; people are telling him again wrong info..Great way to teach people...joke; nevemind the moron mod (DAVEGS4) over there.

  10. You may not like the other site, but for the RX300 forum it is fantastic, there are a couple of people there that are awlsome. LEXMEX being the winner. He posts everything with pictures and helpful info. Lot more technical info there also. Maybe your forum sucks, but I gain from both sites and posts help from either site when it is helpful to someone. Hey keep an open mind, I am several Ford sites too, and they each have their points, but helping and learning is what it is really all about.

That is great but the management is $$^&* up. If Lexmex posts everything he has lots of spare time....Yes they have there "points" but many (not here) are one-sided, same BS, poor management (clueless) etc, hence club-clueless. But I do like how they pimp illegal lighting..nice ha.. I find the site very "kid like" but that is me. They are giving out wrong info as noted above. If you cannot give a simple drain plug count right, wow.

If you want to learn in my eyes, get the FSM and if you can "wrench" a little, you are well off then 80%.

  11. Just back from the Lexus dealer. Two drain plugs as you described. Pick up a crush washer too.

Do you think I can get a socket driven hex wrench in their?

    Thanks for all the help.

What did I tell ya! :)

Socket wise, I do not think so but if you had a nubby one, maybe. Could have been designed a little better but it could be much worse.
