  1. Don't you think a G.O.D is higher than a ninja? Friggin rain every day since I bought the new car.. I am getting -off. My supplies should arrive Friday, cant wait to clean and shine it up this weekend! Got my first 80 mile drive for a meeting today, loaded up the system with 6 Cd's and lookin forward to my first long cruise .. I am a lovin it, and no (fingers crossed here) problemo's yet. quote name='JGTNewLexusOwner' date='Apr 1 2008, 09:59 PM' post='299826'] Hey detaildoc, you are the ninja of detailing!!! (I would have put a superman with a cap there but couldn't find that emoticon)!
  2. Ok gods of detailing Heard from another car fanatic that Zaino products are gr8 to use (Polish, clay etc) http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc Also the eagle never dull for tail pipes? http://www.autogeek.net/eo1046.html thoughts?
  3. thank you all. feel like a real novice here (I used meguir products, nufinish wax/sealant, armor all, mr clean car wash- thought it worked good the cleaner and filter that made the rinse not spot with no towel needed-thoughts on that?) l had it hand washed (with boars hair brushes) due to 2 days of rain after i bought it and I found a bunch of minor scratches on it I could not see previous. annoying the !@#$ out of me. DO you think I have to clay and polish it ? Or a wash, Sealant an carnuba wax should take care of the slight surface scratches? As my puchase list is below, u see i have no polish nor clay. So worst case if i just wash, seal and wax ( do i have to wait a day between seal and wax?) first than do clay and polish another week, would that work or be harmful? And I used the California duster on a charcol black stanza, dark blue ford expedition and gold sand Maxima sSE no problems--y would it scratch a black Lexus? no clear coat?) My list so far (still need bucket) VK-101—foam applicator from autopia – 2.99$ for carnuba Ultima Autospa Microfiber Applicator (for guard) $6 Ultima Autospa Dual-Foam Interior Applicator $6 sonus der wunder mf mitt Sonus Glass Bundle P21s-100 Carnauba Wax - WAX Microfiber Towels - Pack of 3 - Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel 2-pack – t Sonus Cockpit Cleaner Bundle - Ultima Paint Guard Wash Ultima Paint Guard Plus Ultima Interior Guard Plus – Sonus leather cleaner and conditioner – Ultima Detail Spray plus - Thankess SAis once again for thoughts here You should not have to wait. Cars that come straight from the dealer are still exposed to the elements and are not always protected with high quality wax or sealant or even any at all. Most of the time the dealers just apply a glaze to give it shine and hide the swirl marks that are already on the paint from all the hosing down and drying of the car at the dealer. Think about it this way, do you really think the dealer will be waxing or applying a sealant every month on 100's of cars they have there to keep them protected? No way! When you take delivery of the car, it appears really clean, but that is just surface appearance. First thing I did was wash it and clay it, and the clay came out pretty dirty even though it was a new car. Apply some wax or sealant now.
  4. HaHa is the doghouse a duplex? Spent $230 than sent email in to add the Sonus derwunder mf wash mitt onto it so like 240$$ and i still need the bucket I iwll have to build a section onto the house formy cleaning supplies.
  5. Hey how much did you spend in total? I am ordering similar (some changes) and am over 230$ :o already on Autopia. (still need bucket and sponge, maybe one or 2 applicator sponges inside) What coupon code did u use? cheers I am doing it to my new car (bought it in Dec but with the winter here in PA, could not detail it)....however, I would have done it to mine if it brand new and was in the summer. I read alot of people like the California duster....I just don't know though....with all I read about using the proper car wash, and sealant and use microfiber towels all to avoid scratching, I would think the CA duster would scratch the paint. But again, I am not the expert. I hope detaildoc can help or SW03ES...they are "da men"! B) by the way, I will try to attach my excel spreadsheet to this. now please, a disclaimer here, I don't own stock or don't do this for a living so it is just what I put together for me since I don't plan on making detailing my life (plus I am not going to do it every week....can't with the job and life....). So for your use only and use it at your risk (gee, I feel like I am a NFL broadcast here...."...without the expressed written consent of the NFL..ha ha). Ooops, can't upload it; I guess we can upload an excel spreadsheet here...sorry!
  6. One other ? for detail doc if you do not mind. For all the cleaning is it ok to do it on a new car? or how soon before using sealants or wax should one wait?
  7. I would like to thank all 3 of you as this is gr8 stuff. A ton of stuff. Spent the last hour perusing and copying the info into a word doc to than peruse and make my detailing bible. Put 30 miles on it today/tonight. Love it!!!!!! When the sun comes out again I will take some pix. What does everyone think about the California duster? I had charcoal colored Nissan years ago and my recent Maxima (Gold sand) this was great for quick cleaning off of dust on the exterior, especially the spring pollen and dust. ciao
  8. JGT thanks for pointing me here. I am leaving in 15 minutes to go get my new 350! of Course where I am in Long Island we are hearing on news 3 days rain.ugggg LEt me know how all your stuff works JGT. Iw as thinking of getting this http://www.amazon.com/HomeRight-C800477-Au...cm_cr_pr_sims_i any other suggestions (My wife has SUV so I need a large handle/telescoping type) cheers all!
  9. thank u--just read the other reply and thanks for the link! I was a little horrified as I found this site after purchasing the other night (while deciding on extended warranty or not) and all the issues peole listed. It seems like most of the issues were on 2007 models, but obviously there would be a lot more out there on 2007 models so I am a keeping my fingers crossed. this site was great to find! I also use edmunds forum. I already called to ask the service mgr prepping my car to lift the headlights...hope they do! thanks again Hey rjt65, welcome to the club. I replied to another message of yours. I bought mine in Dec 07....exactly what you bought (black on black, UL etc). I looked at all the cars you looked at and more. You are right on about the GS...what is up with those humps!!! Especially the one in the drivers well! Not to mention, the loss of about 3 cu ft in the trunk! For about 7K less, I thought the ES did just fine. Now, let me advise you of something regarding this forum. You are going to get the good and the bad! Now, I think that is good. Read the posts on the problems and be ready for them. Hopefully you won't have any but we all have some. My issues (so far and I have about 3000 miles on mine) is the transmission surges at 20mph and 40mph (in my car this helps sometimes in snow etc). Also, I have some "creaks" or what some call "ticking" noises inside (mine happens mainly when it is cold out). When I take my car in at the 5000 mile checkup, I am going to bring these up. So, hopefully they will be fixed. Others have had some major issues....but again, wait and see. I do like my car and I like the comfort and quietness (except the creaks). I just wanted to warn you since I have been here now for 3 months and you just need to be ready. Also, check the post on General Cleaning and Maintenance, I started a post about how I should clean and maintain my cars appearance. If you want to start what is called "detailing", look there for some advice. The link is below. Good luck and welcome!!!! http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry297880
  10. I think I got a gr8 deal--picking it up Tomorrow. ES 350 Black on Black, MSRP $44,945 (not including the moulding options i added) w Ultra Lux package, M. Levinson Surround Sound/ full bumper, side wheel moldings Net $40,224 Can't Wait!!
  11. Picking my fully loaded ES 350 (Ultra pack with Levinson etc) Black on Black Tomorrow. ...yadda yadda yadaa I am 42-Male , this car is sleeker looking than the infiniti g35 (the G 37 is nice but I do not fit well in there)--2 small and I have 2 girls. I prob. would have went for the Lexus GS but the 2 kids (all wheel drive train hump in the backseat ) and one will be driving in a year (yikes). So i was thinking Volvo S80 Infiniti M35 (AWD) than 350. I liked the new 350 so much I bought it!
