Beside, your parking brake only needs to work once a year anyway. When you get your car inspected. That is the only times mine has ever been used.
What inspection? You have to get your car inspected where you live? I just have to go for emissions inspections every 2 years.
-
Do the trannies in the 1997~2001 have pans, or are they the ones that have to be taken out to be inspected? Sorry, I'm not very mechanically inclined. :(
-
Whoa, HRP! You have an Excalibur? Are they still being made? Nice!
-
DO NOT get the Euros! They will die within 3 months! I have used MTEC's (9004) and they lasted me 2 years in my Legend coupe. MTEC have 2 types of bulbs. One has twice the brightness of OEM bulbs, the other ones have 4 times the brightness. The 4x ones melted my sockets, so you'd have to get beefier wires. Raybrigs are good, but Raazo & Gigalux are probably better. PIAA are great, too but are a bit expensive. My fogs are PIAA, and have never had a problem with them...super bright! The drivers approaching me going the opposite direction may disagree, though!

Change the oil ASAP!

Also keep in mind that the Lexus' parking brake is a interior drum
Really? I didn't know that. Guess I need to research my car a bit more!

The front bumper is different....I think.

The best value that will be available will be a two year old 05 Infiniti M45. It will be the same style as today's car (which I love), it will be an "old style" model, the last year before the 06 model changeover, and it is and will be an entirely unappreciated car--which will drive the price down even further.
I think the JDM version called the Nissan Gloria looks better. You guys are right in that it is a vastly underappreciated car. I thnk it looks a bit ugly, though...but not as ugly as I used to think it was. They should have kept it the way it is in Japan. All the really good cars are in Japan & Europe.
-
Probably the same as the fronts. The car shudders when the brakes are applied.
-
It means your rear brakes overheated, and POSSIBLY caused the rotors to warp, and/or the brake fluid to boil....both not good. I say possibly, because I once drove across a long bridge (could not stop on bridge, I would have caused traffic chaos) with a seized caliper. The rotor was glowing red when I stopped, but apart from a new caliper, nothing else needed repair. Have the brakes checked for sure, just to be safe, though.

we're not all snow, hockey and Tim Horton's up here you know, eh.
Amen, Brother!

Cabin air filter? Just my guess...mine is a 97...don't have it.

I know the service manager for Mercedes at the dealer closest to my home, and he told me (off the record, of course!) he had a few customers who had traded in their 190E's for a then new C class and then came back a few days/weeks later only to want their old 190E's back because of the lack of quality in the C.
MB & BMW used to build great cars (635i/M6/300E coupe, anyone?) until Acura/Lexus/Infiniti came along with comparable products at more than comparable prices. In a nutshell, what used to happen, was that the engineers at MB/BMW would build the car, then hand it over to the accountants to put a price on it. Now, it's the bean counters who tell the engineers the price point to build the car. This has resulted in a lot of corners being cut. It's all Acura/Lexus/Infiniti's fault! Lexus has become the marque most feared by the big three German makers, with Acura a distant second. In my opinion, Infiniti is a big failure (sadly), with the G35 their saviour for now. I wish Lexus cars had an anologue clock like Infiniti, though...very classy.

Lexus is da bomb, as my youngest cousin would say...although I did test drive the new E320 and I was pleasantly surprised. No power, but fun to drive, and felt really planted at extra-legal speeds. I liked the interior of the MB, too. Yes, I think Audi does a better (probably the best) job with interiors, though. From a financial standpoint, MB does not make sense. Lexus has many standard features that would cost you an arm & a leg as options on MB & BMW cars.

Dood! I was going to post this question, too! Hahaha.
I have a 1997 ES300...is there a cargo net for this model?
-
SRK: That's pretty much what I wanted to say, but was too lazy to do so. My comment after that about people abusing the system was intended to be your post in a (very small) nutshell!
You saw Senna race? I am SO jealous. I've SAT in a 1994 Williams-Renault static display car, and I have an original team jacket from the 1994 season which cost me an arm & a leg!

I wish we had government health-care.
Yup, it can be great, but it is abused by people alot. On the other hand, if you need a heart transplant or hip replacement, it is all paid for as long as you are a Canadian citizen, immigrant or resident. All it costs is $50CDN a month for adults with an above $24,000 income. Children are covered no charge.
Wandawoods: I hope everything will work out. I'm glad that you and your child is unharmed. That trunk dissapated so much energy! Wow.

Wow, are you *SIRIUS*? Sorry, just had to. :whistles:
I'm interested....tell me how it works out!

The new ES are very nice, but even a 97-01 ES is nice. I have one! If you want sporty, then the Infiniti G35 seems good. Since I don't know your budget, I recommend either a Kia Amanti or a fully loaded LS430! :D Actually, the new 2005 Acura RL looks very promising. Kinda thinking about it. I would also recommend the new Acura TL, but I test drove it, and I found the ride to be a bit rough, too sporty of me. Awesome engine note and power, though.

Forgot to say--my wife had two rods and a metal plate put in her back(2 months later) from just this little bit of damage---Bills thus far are over $60,000. There is a lawsuit in progress.
I have no idea how the medical system in the USA works, but in Canada, all of the medical expenses would be paid for by Medicare. You wouldn't have to pay a cent.

I saw the IS430 at the Vancouver Autoshow last week. What a beauty!
-
AWESOME! Now go enjoy your car like the rest of us!
-
Sadly, I don't know of any Lexus owner clubs in the GVRD. :(

Hey, KTS! I live in Beautiful Vancouver, BC!!! Woooooo! At last, a homeboy! For proof, take a look at my avatar!

IMHO, I think all of the new Nissans/Infiniti since Carlos Ghosn was hired cars are ugly. Mechanically awesome, but aesthetically not very pleasing....except maybe the G35 coupe, but that car has a crappy interior.
