  12. I got a 92 ES, it has 103K now, when i first bought it, it was dying on me at the stop light once in a blue moon. Here are the things that i did and fixed the problem. engine runs great now. I hope this will help some newbies like me. 1. Check air intake hose, mine had a big crack, replaced it at Lexus for $99 2. Changed all spark plugs, wires, distributer and rotor. Distrubuter was cracked with oil. cleaned the throttle body. 3. tranny flush and radiator flush.
  13. just got my tranny flush yesterday, the mechanic saids it's regular dextron III fluid, does that mean i can put any color dextron III if needed?
  14. go and have lexus dealer check out the car for you, it'll cost about $70, they'll tell you the condition and what's coming down the road. things to watch out for are, sludge in the oil, overheating history, drive the car for at least 15 mins and see if it hesitate on stop lights, see if the idle is okay. check transmission fluid, steering and cooling system. if you do decided to get the car, plan to spend 2-300 dollars in changing things like spark plug, filters, wires, fluid change, flush...etc.
  15. Hi All, where is the IACV located? can someone snap a pic for me so that i can clean it our myhself? is it hard to take it apart?
  16. update: Last nite i was picking up my wife and work and the car stall twice. So i finally went and got some throttle body cleaner and spray the XXXX out of it, well, as i was taking the intake hose apart, that POS crumble on me, i managed to go to the lexus dealer this morning, they said there was a hugh crack in the middle of the intake pipe and that causes the stalling. And the cause of the crack on the intake hose? broken front engine mount, it was bucking like a wild bronco when the mechanic rev the engine.... so..... there you have it people, check the engine mount and cracks in the intake pipe, that could be the reason for stalling.
  17. i had similar problem, but i changed the pcv valve and that fixed it..... so check that and also the fuel filter....
  18. the local lexus/toyota dealership quoted me $340 for the Valvle cover gasket job, and they'll give me a loaner car..... good deal?
