  1. On my 1998 LS, I switched from H rated Michelin Energy tires to the V rated Michelin Primacy tires last year, and I felt the the difference was not substantial. Granted that I'm not a very aggressive driver, the new V rated tires delivered a quieter ride than the worn H tires. Sharp handling manuvers with the V rated Primacys occasionally produce tire squeal, but I did not notice any increases in handing ability despite the difference in speed rating. From your driving habits, it sounds like either tire would be a good choice for your LS. :)
  2. I didn't notice a difference after draining and filling the tranny fluid with T-IV. However, when I reset the ECU, the problem seemed to go away for a bit (a day), and come back later. I'm convinced that there may be a fix for this, but haven't really looked into anything yet. Since, not a lot of 1998+ LS400 owners have been discussing this issue, I feel that other owners may not have this problem.
  3. I have also been experiencing this problem with my 1998 LS400 - 92k miles. When I slow down to between 5-10mph, the car hesistates to accelerate again. Otherwise the transmission operation is smooth. So far I haved drained and filled my transmission, and reset the ECU for the car. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
  4. In my 1998 LS400, I noticed a strange problem with my ac. The compressor would run fine when the car was started, but after a minute or two, the RPMs would jump from 600-800 every 3-5 seconds, most likely indicating that the AC compressor was cycling on and off. However, the AC panel inside the car had no irregular lights or anything. One possiblity that I considered was that the compressor was low on freon, and would disengage itself to prevent further damage. However, the pressure of the R134a was normal when tested at startup. I did replace the car battery two days ago, but the AC was working okay for a day. I've also tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it to see if that would help the situation but it did not. Another thing I noticed was that there is a whine coming from the engine compartment fan when it is on. Are there any recommendations on further diagnosing this problem? Would it be more plausable to be an issue with the compressor/ clutch, or could it be an electrical issue (eg. sensors being messed up when my battery died)?
  5. My 1998 LS400 with 90,000 miles on the clock gets about 20-24 highway and 14-18 around town. The car may need a tune up soon with new plugs and filters, so my mileage may be lower than some other LS400s.
  6. This occured to me on a couple of occasions after driving through a few dips in the road. I opened the hood and tapped on the fluid washer fluid resevoir a few times, and and he light goes off on the dash. I'm guessing that there are some bubbles on the sensor and tapping on the resevior fixes the problem.
