  1. Thanks for the info. I would have never figured or found that. I'll try it out....thanks again!!
  2. I sure would like to know where you found that setup menu to adjust the microphone volume? Some voice commands work fine. My bluetooth,,,,, no problem, but some dont work at all or i get other functions.
  3. Hi All, After 12500 km's its seem my transmission is starting to get clunky. I was in Montreal last week (crazy driving) and i had to "use" some of the HP over the hood and i found some clunking and hard shifting. In no way was i pinning the gas pedal either. I'm not experience the rpm increase between 3rd and 4th or 2nd and 3rd like I've been reading in here, but i am concerned and find myself trying to baby my tranny now. I bought this car for its reliability and now it has me a little worried. Anyone else having transmission issues other then the 2nd/3rd or 3rd/4th (which ever one it is)?
  4. My dealer is relocating my XM antenna tomorrow from the right side of the trunk to the inside shelf and they are doing it for free. I Was just on XMwebsite and they show a unit for exsisting call XM sat ready for like $100 or less Canadian. They are trying to charge me $650 cnd to get one installed..Anyone had this done by someone like BestBuy?
  5. You have to remember that much of the information about automobile reliability is from feedback from readers of Comsumer Reports and members of Consumer Union and from extensive testing. Consumer Reports is not an isolated editorial staff that trashes cars and other products without member input and extensive testing. We have been providing information to Consumer Union about the reliability of cars and many other products through surveys for way over 30 years. I have often been assured and sometimes amused at how the reliability ratings published in Consumer Reports correlates to our own experiences with various products. It is unfortunate that Toyota Motor Company has allowed their cars - both Lexus and Toyota - to slip in quality. We are stockholders of Toyota and are especially concerned. Don't blame the staff of Consumer Reports Magazine - they are only the messenger. Full responsibility for their product is with Toyota Motor Company. Your right about the staff at Consumer Reports Magazine and I didnt not mean to offend them. I do however believe some information gets reported to quickly. If i were giving advise to someone who was about to spend $54,000.00 Canadian on anything, I would want to be sure i can back it with solid information.
  6. Hi all, i just had a look at the lastest comsumers reports guide and it seem our cars have dropped to an average rating. I'm well aware of some of the transmission issues that some of you have endored but I'm shocked at how they seem to have turned on the ES. What other problems other then transmissions has anyone been having? I dont seem to have that issue, least not that I have really noticed but I find myself looking for it to happen now. I'm a little disappointed at comsumer reports. I bought this car based mostly on thier recommendation and in 3 months they have really turned on the car. Dont get me wrong, I still love my car however, i bought it mostly for it's reliabiltity and I feel let down. I hope Lexus wakes up and addresses the issue for us or this is my last Lexus.
  7. I havent had an issues. I have noticed very slight odd tranny shifting. I probably wouldnt have noticed it if i was in here reading and driving my car looking for it. I did also get a slight wind noise in high winds. Seems to have gone away. Bottom line, My best friend has an exotic car dealership. He gets his hands on Benz, BMW, Infinities..etc....the es is a great car. I wouldnt give it up for most of them that are worth considerably more. The es is not perfect....but its the best car for the money.
  8. I have tried all versions of Blackberry's with the bluetooth. People have a hard hearing me no matter what phone I use. They hear me find at a light and if I'm yelling. Same results with my wife Motorola, my brother Sony and my boss's brand new phone. Unless I'm aimed directly at the mic and speak loudly, I come across distant.
  9. What I did was setup one of my front hot keys to turn off the bluetooth. It will ask you if you want your bluetooth turned of (on your blackberry screen) hit enter and your back on the blackberry.
  10. You don't say what options (invoice on an ES is middle $29K) Options obviously can increase that greatly I don't typically wory about what options are on a car. Most dealers buy a model in 3 or 4 configurations. I find the car with the most of the equipment I want and then ask for my cost on the car. The only other way to order out a car with the specific equipment I want but it is too late in model year to do that. For example On a ES 350 with MRSP of $41,822 I was offerred a 7.70 discount from MSRP On another ES350 with a MSRP of $37,387 I was offerred a discount of 6.64% discount from MSRP You can see the trend here is the higher MSRP the bigger the discount This method give me a good idea of what I would pay for any other ES 350 on the lot. Isn't this a easy way to judge a good price. Thanks for you help I concider you folks lucky. Canadian invoice price on the C package (nav, pano roof, rims) is $51,000.00. I paid $52,500 (list is $54,600) and got a bug deflector thrown in. Service sounds about the same as the US thought. About $95.00 an hour. I feel raped compared to some of your pricing.
  11. Thanks for the info.....we should all chip and get you a nice xmas gift for saving us money in the long run.....cheers!!!
  12. 2009 when the new model is due? I called my local lexus dealer and he said an upgrade is due soon. What it is he's not aware but lexus did say one would be avaible spring of 07....now they were told it will be early in the new year. Who knows.....one thing my age was taught me...nothing is free or easy...least for me anyway
  13. Did your birds veiw come with your car's nav? or is it after market?
  14. i agree its not better for actual navigating..just nice when you do know where your going. Its just a more eye pleasing view to look at. I dont know about a patent on the birds eye veiw though?. All the newer after market units all have that view.
  15. I hope its as simple as a DVD upgrade and we can get that feature in the future. Im temped to call Navteq and see if they are working on such an upgrade. I'm sure they are for future Nav systems for Lexus, question is, will they only be for newer vehicles? Maybe a letter to Lexus stating the need to catch up with thier competion and make it available to DVD nav systems easily compared to the hard drive Infiniti system. Or even a letter to Navteq and state "hey...maybe a way to make a few future dollars on customers that already have the system? I'd be glad to pay the $300 for an upgrade like that...hell i paid $54,000 canadian for the car..whats another $300.
  16. I recently test drove a G35. Nice car, still love my ES more. One need feature was the birds eye veiw on the nav system. For finding actual locations....i think the plan view (which is what WE see on our nav systems) is easier to follow...however....on a late evening drive that birds view is pretty cool. Wondering if Lexus could accomplish that view with just DVD upgrades? I know most new aftermarket nav's have this feature.
  17. Does anyone know the fix to watch DVD while driving? not that I want to watch one while flying down the freeway, but I recently had to take the kids to grandma's cottage and 1 hr into the trip, their portable DVD play crapped out. 3 hr trip felt more like a month. Better yet, anyone know how to get rid of the screen that I have to agree to everytime i get in my car?
