  1. Sorry for the delay. Tire pressure is at 30 psi. The only reason I feel or think I am experiencing a stiffer ride is there is a noise that comes from my left dash board only with my summer tires on (or a pot holes in the winter). Seems to disappear with the Michelin Pilots. Either way, for the money, its a good tire.
  2. I just installed the Primacy on my car. had to replace the first set after a week due to a shake. They balanced them twice and still couldn't get rid of the shake. 2nd set worked like a charm. They are quiet but ride is slightly stiffer. Maybe just me. I had my winter michelin pilots before the primacy. the pilot ride is amazing but expected I think from a winter tire. I would recommend the Primacy. Good price and not a bad tire at all.
  3. SWO is right. Stick around here. These are all nice people who are willing to help. Only beeping I have ever heard is when i take a corner too quick in the snow and the car slides on me. Just a warning the wheels are slipping which is a great feature. Give's just the extra bit of time to react if you happen to not be paying attention for a second. I would run it out to the dealer. Tell them your not pleased and they always jump for me. Good luck!
  4. That's what I am thinking as they fixed this in the 08s. It is a 2007, hence my ID. However the tranny was replaced in 2009 (january to be exact) Did the 08's get there brake issue resolved? Wind noise?
  5. Hello All, On my second tranny due to the 2nd gear flare and its happening again. I live in Canada and the other morning was cooler than it's been so far this fall. The second gear flare is very much there and worse then my first tranny. I am calling the dealer today but I know they will reset my computer (again) which does fix it for a short period of time. My warranty is almost up (80,000km). Has anyone else been through this on tranny #2? Should I insist on tranny #3? or live *BLEEP*ed off at Lexus till this car is gone? BTW. Warm today and no flare. If winter didnt last for 5 months here, I may live with it. Hate to say this, but I know I have cost Lexus some new business by talking to friends, clients etc about these issues. Lexus has surprised with great service and surprises me with issues I didnt expect from a lexus. 1) Wind noise (only on very warm days) thank god those are few an far between in Canada 2) 2nd tranny same issue 3) brakes (when i back up, i attrack elk) 4) replaced amplifier (CD player would not connect) I do love the ride and look and the service area at lexus. I am there a fair amount, I may just get invented to the Xmas party I hope all you fine folks are not experiencing the same issues. No car is perfect, I just didnt expect this. Didnt have any issues with the last 3 honda's we owned over the last 15 years.
  6. And oh, got it at the dealer and installed by the dealer. Its mounted somewhere in the truck that i have never seen. I'm very happy with mine
  7. Lexus does offer that unit. I had the external antena mounted on the rear brake light INSIDE the car. Works great. reception has never been an issue. The Sat radio is displayed like my radio display. I paid about $400.00 Canadian.
  8. i am stating the obvious. If i was alone with my issues i would totally agree but how many threads must we read about all the same issue as mine. 1) tranny issues (mine replaced at 25,000km) 2) wind noise 3) brakes (my pads are fine but had 2 rotors replaced by dealer who agreed this damage couldnt possibly happen with normal wear and tear) Service from Lexus 2nd to non. These people know how to serve thier customers. I guess based on all the reviews, magazines and forums on past models this didnt quite meet my expectations. I like my car, its a good car, interior quality is unmatched, ride is nice, no car is perfect but these issues are alittle too common and i guess i expected lexus to meet reliability of my Honda which so far it hasn't.
  9. i bought a good set of Michelin Alpine tires and problem solved. i havent been stuck since and I live in southern Ontario (snow hell) i was in shock at what snow tires did. Mind you it set me back $1200.00 with tax but i am traveling faster and safer. Its icey today and not even the ice is stopping me. Snow tires still slide, so watch your speed, but traction is now a non issue.
  10. i had the exact same problem. The ES is aweful in the snow. i was getting stuck and passed by everyone. I will get winter tires now but i dont think thats is going to completely solve the problem. tires need to chew through some of that snow to get grip, but if the car doesn't let you, you sit there. TRAC needs to be shut off in some situations, we just have to figure out how to do it or this car is truely useless in snow. I am not talking even alot of snow either. i looked in the manual to see if pulling the TRAC fuse would do it but its linked to several other systems, so i dont think thats a good idea. if anyone can help with what to do that would be great.
  11. hey guys. we all have been down this road in the past. old threads are plastered with wind noise issues. I have had them from time to time. nothing like this sounds like though. but it is a design flaw. Only happens to me on very warm days (lucky i live in Canada) I have had the dealership hear and look for where its coming from and we are all at a loss. Its there, not all the time, but im forced to live with it. I like my car but i will be seriously looking at Acura or Infiniti next time around. Only for the reason people ask me about my car and my response is "its ok" i dont get the same response from TL or G or BMW owners. I drove an Accord before this and was half the money. Have a hard time saying this is twice the car. It is almost twice the money. If you took my features of UL package away from me, i cant say the car is outstanding in comparison. Interior quality i dont think i could match with Honda or Acura, but ive never bought a car based on the feel of leather. The stereo is, lets face it just OK. reading the threads on ML, i'm not alone. Nothing i couldnt get for a grand or grand and a half. i have had to replace my tranny and still get a flare on my new one just not as big of one. All said, not what i expected from a Lexus. I was recently was called by Lexus and asked if i would recommend it to a friend or family and i had to be honest and say no. It not just due to my cars issues. i know 3 people (2-07's 1-09) and we all feel the exact same way. they are options in this class of car and i would have to say this car does not place first unless you are soully looking for a softer ride. Tire issues, brake issue, tranny issue, wind noise issues. 4 more them my old cheap honda. Been reading other blogs (Acura, Infiniti and BWM) and im just not seeing the problems as often. They are problems like with all cars, just not the same general feeling about thier purchase. Personal opinion of course.
  12. Come up to Canada. last dealer meeting my rep was told there are 50 within an hour drive of my home. all UL packages. i see move with out the roof then with but I think there are a lot of them out there.
  13. Regardless of your mirror switch setting your rear shade should go down in reverse. You have a problem, insist the dealer fix it.
  14. heres the fix. I did it however i only set it to 2 instead of 3 as suggested in this link. worked fine. i've had not one complaint since http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry280086
  15. Big difference. Had a loaner and just love when i got my car back. Feel comfort etc is much different. Plus cleaning and appearance after time the UL looks like new as i can see the other age quickly.
  16. Most of the issues with the ES350 seem to be the same ones that '07 Camry owners have reported (transmission issues mostly). This is not that surprising considering the common platform. I agree that the ES350 in look and feel seems slightly less fabulous than the car it replaced. Toyota later admitted they cut about 1,000 engineers from their quality control teams and will now have to add them back; we are also seeing this in the unusual amount of TSBs and other issues reported by owners of the '07 LS460. Toyota seems to be correcting the problems though; the second year of both models seem much better. I think it's kind of premature to judge an entire brand by an experience of just one car. Cars are mechanical and everyone (even Lexus) makes a lemon every once in a while. I've heard many stories of people who are very happy with their recent Mercedes or VW and people who say they are a maintenance nightmare. Sometimes it's also just luck of the draw. Toyota seems to finally have hit the tipping point in that they are making too many cars and can't control the quality as thoroughly as they have in the past. I think that's why they are building more plants in the US (so their current ones don't have to run at 105%+ capacity) and hopefully their situation will improve. Every carmaker seems to have a season. In the 70's and the 80's Mercedes made the best cars in the world. In the late 80's and the 90's Toyota seems to have taken the mantle (with Honda nipping at its heals). Now the Germans seem to have bounded back from the quality abyss so who knows who's next? Maybe (dare I say it) Hyundai? LOL....Dont knock that last comment "Hyundai". i recently had to rent a car out of town and first car was a chry 300. then i had a Hyundia on my next leg of my trip and i preferred the Hyundia. It had a V6 mind you and had some power and a nice ride and just felt safe in it. The 300 i felt like a dog in his cage.
  17. I had my sat radio installed inside my car beside the back brake light and reception is fine. no issues and no one can see it. I still own some Honda products and after 100,000+ km, they still feel tight. i can start to feel my ES loosing up after 30,000km which ive not experienced with my Honda's Lexus is way better quality materials inside. The seats, dash, pretty much everything out does Honda or Acura. Power Plants and tranny's however is a toss up. I have a 5 year old Honda van that tracks straight as an arrow and never any issues. i have to "drive" my lexus. The honda's and Acura let you feel road which does just that, "feel" the road. i recently hit a gopher and i didnt feel a thing in my ES. The honda's would have told me if i hit a male or female (rougher ride). so, that being said, the threads say it all. You want feel or handling, buy something else. You want qaulity of materials inside and out, buy a lexus. Power plants and tranny's, my experience with Honda's and acura's has been "never an issue". my year old ES just got a new tranny because i was tired of that damn flare. i dont think the tranny would have broke down however, i paid for something to work correctly, i want it too!!! would i buy another?? let you know in 4 years when i replace this one. My other car (my wifes) however i think will always be a Honda or Acura. been 12 years total of worry free driving and trade in's have made them the least expensive cars ive ever owned (even out beating my used cars from my younger days) My advise, buy one. you wont hate it. chances are you will love it like most of us do. I really wish i truely knew what the best car in this class for "ME" is. im hoping its the one im driving. Cheer!!
  18. I like my car....if i had to get rid of it tomorrow for some unforseen reason....i would buy an Acura, Honda product...not that this car is bad....just we have drove Honda's with no issues ever. Wife got an Acura MDX and the feel is tight and secure and again, never an issue. I had the classic tranny issue with mine....lexus replaced it with no questions asked which was great...but what does the future hold? i have approx 3 yrs left on warranty then im on my own. After 30,000 kms i can feel my car getting loose. i baby it. I dont get the same feeling out of the Honda's or Acura till well over 100,000km's. Demand pretty much says it all. Grandpa's sells cars at 86 yrs old still. he cant keep the Honda's on the lot or get enough of them at the auctions. he has many oppertunties to buy es350 even with UL packages and less then half the price of a new one up here in Canada. Dont get me wrong...i do like my car...just think next time around i will concider something else first out of the bag.
  19. Hi John, I asked the same question in these forums awhile ago and got the fix....i would search it here and find it...i did it like i said awhile ago...its worked and has been working fine since...i just can't remember how i did it. I do remember is was a combination of screen buttoms to get to a mircophone senitivity screen. Good luck! Cheers
  20. i did not buy the extended maintenance package. Its a Lexus, i did think I would need that. I follow the scheduals for maintenance and hope I did my research correctly about this car. I think If I complain to the dealership, I might get a key chair to shut me up.
  21. Hello all, Thought i would let you know that I bought my car in June of 2007 and as of December 07 they are offering $8000 cash back due to the strength of the Canadian dollar. TIMING IS EVERYTHING, ISN'T IT? Still love my car!!!!
  22. I have not seen or heard of problems with cold quiet so serious. I would say your tranny has a major issue and needs repair or replacing.
  23. I just had Xm installed with antenna inside and it works great. When i called activate my unit, she sent the signal to my unit twice. The second time she claimed would boost my signal (dont ask me how) but they did say it is posible to make reception more senitive to the signal (im sure there is some downside to doing this or why wouldnt they just do it to all?) My dealer is now, after installing my antenna inside, recommending it. The antenna is pretected from vandelism, snow and ice from sliding down and ripping off the antenna. Might not be an issue in Arizona, but up here it is.
  24. I just had XM installed and had the antenna mounted right beside the back center brake light inside the car. Reception is great and my dealership is going to recommend it to anyone having one installed. Its protected from vandalish as well as snow and ice sliding down from the top of the car and ripping it off. Unless you are looking for it, Its not noticable at all. also I have a friend with a XM unit he bought from Best Buy and reception on the Lexus system is way better. We were both parked just inside my garage and i had full reception. He has his antenna mounted outside this car and could not get reception. He wasn't convinced so we switched car bays with the same result. Guess maybe that why Lexus hits us up for 3 times the money then an after market unit.
  25. double check to make sure it's still under warranty. Potential problems: 1. speed sensor intermittently going bad, but not giving up a check engine light 2. one of the selenoids is intermittently having problems and not giving up a check engine or trac light 3. lack of tranny fluid 4. wrong tranny fluid used 5. plugging up torque converter or filter 6. if none of these, most likely the overdrive band is wear out and going bad due to lack of maintenance and/or bad driving habits. Or maybe I got a bad tranmission out of the box? I'm not hard on the car... I drive it...been driving my Honda's in this manner for 11 years with no issues....ever. Lexus dropped the ball on this issue and many respectfully are upset. This is a higher then normal priced car and most, Like I bought it for its reliability which not all and it sounds like many are not getting. Its not what i pictured from Lexus.
